Bobby Witt, Jr. of the Royals just finished a fairly decent July. He had one hitless game. His batting average was .489. His on base percentage was .520. His slugging average was .833. He had 44 hits, including 8 doubles, 1 triple, and 7 homers. He scored 24 runs and had 22 ribbies. Oh, and he finished second in the home run contest at the All-Star game. ---

If only he wasn’t so fiercely loyal to such a shit team. Trout is going to retire having won absolutely nothing. His faith in the Angels has been criminally misplaced. It’s been crystal clear for quite some time the Angels are totally incapable of building a decent team around him. ---

They finished above .500 that season but did not make the playoffs. Two years later, in 2014, they were the best team in the AL but got swept by the Royals in the LDS. In 2015 they were again above .500 but didn’t make the playoffs. They haven’t been above .500 since. ETA: It’s time for a new thread. Paging @dalej42! ---
