Every MLB team has lost at least one game. Can’t remember that happening so fast in preceding seasons.
Only one winless team left - the As.

weren’t the Cards maybe last NL team to ask for review?
but hasn’t that been the trend lately, batters swinging for the fences every time
On Wednesday night the Twins, versus the Royals, asked for 9 reviews, and won 8 of them. They lost one in the first inning and then went 8 for 8.
I think this will favor the pitcher actually, as theoretically only 1 molecule of the ball (ok 1 pixel) needs to intersect the 2D plane to be called a strike by the system.
The Cards had an interesting approach where the pitchers were told not to call for a review, and to leave it only to the catcher. The pitchers weren’t happy, and I don’t know whether the manager has relented yet.
I think Winn finally called first one
Do we need a new thread for April?
Or retitle this one to ‘MLB March-April 2026’? This is only post #69 in this thread, so we’ve got plenty of room.
I’ll rename it.
So, Kent, how do you like the fried gooey-butter cake on a stick?
So with the Yanks Home Opener Win, they’re now 6-1. They’re below average as a hitting team, waiting for Judge and some others to warm up. Meanwhile they are the #1 pitching team in almost every column.
ERA is 1.17, Whip is .80, Avg is .170, only gave up league least 12 BBs, though only 9th in Ks. Tied for least Homers given up at 2 with LAD.
Keeping hitting simple. Team OPS of 17th. Even Homers are 15th. One surprising offensive outlier, second with 11 SBs.
Back to the pitching, and this is still without Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodan & Clarke Schmidt all due back later this year.
The White Sox have announced that they will retire Ozzie Guillen’s number 13.
It will be an inauspicious day for triskaidekaphobics:
Maybe they’ll retire it on the 13th.
Which would have been perfect, but no, August 8th.
Bummer.
The diabetic shock-inducing wonderfulness of gooey butter cake can’t be improved by deep frying it in funnel cake batter.
Hehe. Watching the Tiger’s - Cardinal’s game in Detroit as it starts to rain a bit. Looked out the window to see how heavy the rain was at my house, and saw the first actual cardinal of the year in my yard, presumably being a harried daddy hunting for worms for some hatchlings. ![]()
Something happened tonight that will probably never happen again. Giancarlo Stanton scored a run using his speed. He got a walk. He stole second. Went to third on an out. Scored on a wild pitch. Despite the piano on his back he was able to steal second because they didn’t hold him on.
