My Fightin’s, at 33-19, have the best record in baseball, just ahead of Cleveland. With the return of Utley the Barbarian to the lineup, in the past week their offense has finally shown signs of not being a complete embarrassment. Victorino should return within the week so finally the full lineup will be intact and hopefully they can put some distance between themselves and the surprising Marlins. The bullpen has been very solid and the rotation as good as advertised. If the team remains healthy, I can’t imagine any other team in the NL competing with them for the top playoff spot. ---

What makes Jo-Jo’s win even more overdue is he’d started 28 straight games without winning any of them, tying the record. ---

I don’t think anyone predicted that Cleveland and Seattle would both have winning records at the May before the season started. Yet the Indians lead their division by a good margin and the M’s are only a half game back. ---

Sox just had to win 1 of the last 3 games to have a 20 win May. Instead 19-10 for the month. Hitting just about dead over the last 4 games (other than the last 2 innings last night) surely didn’t help. And the Sox player with the longest current hitting streak? Ellsbury? AGon? Crawford? Varitek! , currently at 8 games. ---
