I’m really really really liking what I’m seeing from the Mariners so far. King Felix got the win last night, his 146th win as a Mariner, surpassing Jamie Moyer’s team record. New shortstop, Ketel Marte, had one hell of night, racking up 4 hits, including a 3-run HR, and ending up just a triple away from the cycle. Robinson Cano freaking ROCKS. Gotta say, I think new GM, Jerry DiPoto, did a good job putting this team together. I just really hope they can keep this up. ETA: Tonight’s starting pitcher, Wade Miley: 3 runs allowed in his last 21-1/3 innings. ---

Jackie Bradley Jr. has, to my surprise, finally and suddenly figured it out at the plate. He’s the hottest hitter in Boston, as well as perhaps the best defensive CF in the _game_. He still shouldn’t have “JR” on his jersey, but he’s earned the right. ---

JBJ and the rest of the Red Sox are just feasting right now. Six lineup regulars are hitting over .300. Even though they’re not hitting a ton of home runs, they’re 2nd in team slugging. ---

I like Jackie Bradley and always suspected he’d figure it out, but with due respect he isn’t the second best defensive center fielder in the American League East. ---

Miley gave up a few solo homers… but all the Mariners extra-base hitting! Dae Ho Lee whacking a wrong-way three-run ding dong; The big man looking rather Babe Ruth-esque. And the bullpen was rocking it. This is definitely not last year’s M’s. 😃 ---

Late to the thread because I was on vacation last week. Hit three stadiums, two of which were new to me. My thoughts: [ul] [li]PNC Park might be my new favorite stadium based both on the view from the seats, and the food. Sadly for the Pirates, the view of action on the field wasn’t so great. I got to see the first game of their being swept by the Cubs. It wasn’t pretty.[/li][li]The new scoreboard at Progressive Field is gorgeous. Watching the Indians beat the Tigers twice (including Kluber’s complete game shutout) and meeting **ZipperJJ** in the process was even better. But what the hell’s up with Detroit this season? Are they really that bad?[/li][li]Watching a game from my hotel room at Rogers Center was even better than being in a luxury suite. Great experience. Really wish they’d opened the roof, though.[/li][/ul] Anyway, back to the present. I’m beginning to wonder if this is one of those years where we have a division (I’m looking at you, NL West) where .500 ends up being the best record. Not impressed. I’m hoping the Dodgers can take a split from the Mets this week. ---

After spending April whacking the ball all over the yard, the Giants bats have gone completely moribund. 4 runs in the past 4 games. Total. How they managed to win a game is beyond me. It’s a miracle. ---

The game was won (spoiler alert) by a walkoff 2-run homer by Marwin Gonzalez in the 16th, off one of Cleveland’s starting pitchers. It was Gonzalez’s 27th career homer, but only the second one he has hit with runners on base. The other one was another two-run HR less than a week ago. Astonishingly, Gonzalez’s first 25 homers came with nobody on base. I don’t know about you, but I find that statistic absolutely mind-boggling. ---

Max Scherzer has 18 strikeouts through 8 innings against the Tigers. Kerry Wood and Roger Clemens hold the current record of 20 through a 9-inning game. Randy Johnson also struck out 20 in a game, but it went into extra innings. ---
