The Phillies have been outscored 115-142 as of this post. They are insanely lucky to be 20-15 and there is nothing about them to suggest they will play any better than this. I’d bet fifty bucks they finish under .500. I am pretty sure that at this point they’re the luckiest team in baseball. ---

Wow. I hadn’t been following the Phillies at all this year, but that’s amazing. They’re 12-3 in 1-run games, and are, after only 35 games, already 6 games above their expected W-L. ---

The Phillies are a in very top heavy division with NYM and the Nats. But there’s also Miami and Atlanta. A wild card spot isn’t out of the question with the NL West floundering so far and other than the Cubs, nobody is setting the world on fire in the Central. ---

I’ll assume it’s just clickbait nonsense about the Cubs trading for Mike Trout. I’ve seen numerous stories, but they’re all from questionable websites. I could see the Cubs trading Schwarber, he can’t play the outfield and he’s too good to catch daily. But Trout to the Cubs makes no sense. They’re not hurting for hitters ---

What a bunch of cowards the Rangers are. They wait until the last game of the season against Toronto to bean Bautista in retaliation for knocking them out of the playoffs last year. ---

HBP and beaned are two different things. Bautista was HBP and both teams were warned. Bautista came in hard at second and Odor hit him. Then Fielder was HBP. I’m not crazy about what happened, but let’s be accurate. ---

Oh please. It’s Bautista’s last at-bat of the season against the Rangers, and they just happen to hit him with a fastball? A fastball thrown by an expendable rookie who touches 98 MPH? ---

I guess if you watched the whole series you would have seen what a bunch of poor-sport crybabies the Blue Jays have been, crabbing about balls and strikes (supposed to be forbidden?) and generally arguing about everything. And did you notice that the Blue Jay’s manager, who had been ejected from the game several innings earlier, was ON THE FIELD during the fight, trying to hit people? Speaking of suspensions…I hope he gets one. I agree Odor was in the wrong but the Jays were just childish for all three games. And maybe you didn’t notice that the first pitch the Jays threw after the brawl was thrown at Prince Fielder. Actually Fielder was the only person on either team who behaved perfectly; when hit by the pitch, he laughed. ---

Crabbing to the umpires about balls and strikes is one thing; it’s between the players and the officials, and if the officials want to penalize it, they will. But sending in a disposable fastball pitcher to plunk the opposition’s best hitter in his last at-bat of the season series is a fucking punkass bitch move. I did feel bad for Prince though. I’ve always liked him, and he seems like a level-headed and decent guy. He just happened to be the next guy up to the plate, and whoever was next was always going to get plugged.
