Trying not to rant, absolutely hate how it takes a multitude of streaming services just to watch baseball these days.

What the hell are these ugly ass softball uniforms the Brewers are wearing tonight?

You’ll be amazed to hear that the MLB occasionally tries to engage subsets of the population that don’t shake their fist at random clouds. One way in which they do so is by allowing teams to choose an alternate jersey that reflects some fun aspect of their community. Surprisingly, this has zero affect on the outcome of the game.

Aaron Judge has some kind of sorcery going on this season. You look at the box score for tonight, a double and a triple, and you think he’s killing it. The triple was a bullet that ate up the rookie centerfielder but probably should have been caught. The double was another bullet that skipped off the third base bag and skipped past the fielder.

Of course, he hits the ball hard regularly but there’s been a luck factor too. He has 32 singles so far and I swear half of them had seeing-eyes. Some weird shit going on. Current slash: .430/.521/.777

If I am not mistaken Judge’s OPS+ last year was the highest in MLB history for a righthanded batter, not including short Negro League seasons (in which case it’d be several Josh Gibsons.)

Judge is hitting BETTER this season. He’s unlike anyone else.

Something happened last night that had never ever happened before in MLB history.

Riley Greene of the Tigers hit two home runs in the ninth inning. While other players have hit two homers in the same inning, nobody else had done so in a ninth inning.

Detroit entered the ninth tied with the Angels 1-1. Greene homered to lead off the inning, then capped the 8-run rally with a 3-run dinger.

Last night Draft Kings had an interesting promotion.

DK invited bettors to bet a 2- to 5-leg parlay, in which a client would bet on 2 to 5 MLB players to hit a home run during Friday’s games. Obviously, to win your parlay, all of the players you bet on had to hit home runs. (I picked Schwarber and Judge in my 2-leg parlay; Schwarber went deep, but Judge did not.)

But the promo was that if any one of your players hit a home run, AND their team scored the most runs across all games, you received a split of a $1 million bonus bet with all other players who also had a winning pick.

Last night the Mariners scored 13 runs, the most in the majors last night. Two players hit homers for Seattle: Julio Rodriguez (# 5) and Cal Raleigh (2, #11 and #12). So if you picked either of those players in your parlay, you get a portion of the million dollar bonus bet.

I have thus far been unable to discover how many bettors shared the bonus bet.

In their first 33 games, the Royals hit a paltry 15 home runs as a team.

Last night, in a 4-0 win over Baltimore, KC hit 3 homers, all solo shots. Today, in their 11-6 victory over the O’s, they hit 7 dingers, again all solo shots. The 7 solo home runs set an MLB record for most solo homers in a game without a non-solo home run.

This is wrong. I was given bad info by my son. He has been severely reprimanded and will not be fed supper tonight.

At one point, however, the Orioles and Royals had combined for 10 solo home runs without a multit-run homer, which would have been a record. Except Mike Massey of the Royals ruined that streak with a 2-run homer in the ninth.

Correct, although it’s been done twice before. So it ties the record.

> According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the 10 solo home runs tied an MLB record achieved twice before – a 10-6 D-backs win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field on May 20, 2022, and a 14-12 White Sox win against the Tigers at Tiger Stadium on May 28, 1995.

> BALTIMORE -- When the humidity settles in and a slight breeze picks up, Camden Yards has the potential to become a haven for home run hitters. Even more so this year, now that the left-field dimensions at the ballpark are no longer as...

And the 7 home runs is a franchise record for KC.

The White Sox are still the White Sox.

Entering the bottom of the ninth last night, the Sox led the Royals 3-2. After a leadoff walk, the next batter hit an easy popup to second. Except…

After this error, the next batter was safe on a bunt single. Then, after an infield popout, the shortstop committed a throwing error as the tying run scored. A single to center (on a deep, but routine, fly ball) ended the game.

Two statistically unusual games yesterday:

The Washington Nationals won the first game of a double header yesterday against the Guardians, by 10 - 9, despite the Nats pitchers recording only 1 strikeout the entire game. The average is number of K’s per team is between 8 and 9.

The Giants scored 9 runs in the top of the 11th inning to beat the Cubs 14 - 5. The fifth largest margin of victory in an extra inning game since 1900.
