Saw something I never saw before in yesterday’s Yankee game. Yanks had runners on 1st and 2nd and try a double steal. It looked like it worked- but when the catcher threw the ball to 3rd his arm made contact with the umpire’s mask and knocked it off. Umpire called interference on himself and sent the runners back to their original bases. I’ve never seen a play where an umpire interfered with a play, time to read the rules and see which section applies. ---

If you look at the play the ball is sailing over the baseline at the same time the runner crossed the plate. A perfect throw probably gets him. It’s iffy that a good throw gets him. If the catcher had to move his glove at all to apply the tag he’s probably safe. Dominguez can run and he had a good jump on contact. The error did allow Wells to take third.
