Does anybody else find it somewhat silly to have headlines like “Detroit’s first World Series appearance since 2006”? I mean, with 30 teams and a 100+ years of baseball history, it seems to me that six years isn’t really a significant stretch of time between WS appearances. “First appearance since…” ought to be reserved for teams that actually haven’t been there in quite some time. Next week, will we see, “The Giants’ first WS appearance since 2010”? “Cardinals’ first WS appearance since last year”? What ---
