I can’t decide if this is good hitting or bad pitching/defense. I guess the closer isn’t getting a save tonight. ---

This is awesome. I just hope they save some runs for the next few games. The commentators also just answered a question i was wondering about: This is apparently still a Save situation for Zach Britton, even though the Birds now lead by 7 runs. With this 8th-inning explosion, though, i wonder if Showalter might just pull Britton to save him in case he’s needed tomorrow. If when you come into the game the potential tying run is on base, at bat, or on deck–which was the situation when Britton came in–and you go ahead and finish the game without giving up the lead, it’s a save. They wouldn’t penalize Britton for having his team put the game out of reach between times. Of course, no save as they replaced Britton with Hunter. Which is the right move IMHO–save your closer for tomorrow. ---
