After 5, the Giants lead 2-1. Vogelsong needs a strong outing to be considered for the post season roster. It’s down to him or Zito, and it’s a tough call right now. ---

The Orioles took the first game of the series in Boston, beating the Red Sox 4-2. Jim Johnson now holds the Oriole save record with 46. This was Jon Lester’s first ever loss to Baltimore; he’s 14-1 against the Birds. Unfortunately, the Yankees walked off in their game to maintain their lead in the division. ---

Lots of close games going on right now. Baltimore and Boston tied 6-6 Oakland and Yankees tied 5-5 Cards and Cubs tied 4-4 (well, it’s important for the Cards!) All in the 8th or 9th inning. ---

Even though MLB’s national broadcast “plan” sucks donkey balls on Saturday afternoons, the Gameday Audio feature of the internet package is pretty cool. ---

Wow! What a game in the Bronx. The As put up 4 in the top of the 13th to break the tie, but the Yankees came right back to score 4 in the bottom the inning to tie it up again. ---

I have no real bone to pick with the Dodgers, as a general rule, but i do sort of like the fact that they have gone 10-16 since the arrival of Gonzalez and Beckett. ---

Watch out - the Dodgers organization will be a factor to contend with in the coming years. Since Magic Johnson and the gang took over, they’ve made several excellent moves. Sure, that Red Sox trade didn’t pan out for this season and cost them a lot of money, and as a Giants fan I am truly saddened by that (:eek:), but in all seriousness, they’re charging hard in the NL West.
