This is worse, though, because a black player who wrote “You’re a nigger” on himself could at least point out that he, himself, is a “nigger,” and so was using the word to describe his own ethnic group. Escobar is not gay, and was using a slur that describes a group he is not part of. It better approximates a WHITE player wearing something saying “You’re a nigger.” At the press conference, Escobar - I swear I’m not making this up - said he had no problems with gay people, that “the person who decorates my house is gay, the person who cuts my hair is gay.” All he had to do was throw is a gay clothier and a gay choregrapher and he’d have an infield of gay stereotype friends. ---

The O’s swept the M’s in a three game series, but they needed 38 innings to do it. That’s about the most I could I ask for; the O’s kept pace with the Yanks, but they had to work extra hard for it. ---

After taking a rather depressing glance at the standings this morning in relationship to my beloved Indians, I found myself wondering the following: What is the latest in a season a team has been in first place in their division while ultimately finishing in last place? ---

Starting to get a little nervous about the Brewers… but at this point a 2.5 game lead with half of the Cards remaining games against the Cubs and Astros should be enough to make the playoffs. And we all know that anything can happen then. ---
