As for “it’s a drug relapse until proven otherwise,” things might work like that in your head, but not for most people, who wait for evidence before damning someone. And what’s with the self-righteous attitude? Why do you care if it’s a relapse? As far as i’m concerned, the only reason for an outsider to care should be in order to wish Washington the best, and hope that he gets better soon. I don’t know why you need to make this into some morality play, where you get to hand down judgments about his credibility. ---

It would be really stupid of Ron Washington and the Rangers to deny that he’s had a drug relapse if in fact he has had a relapse. The truth is likely to come out sooner or later, and if the Rangers’ statement on his behalf turned out to be a lie, both he and the organization would look terrible. ---

This is something the Rangers have known about for weeks. The whole drug-use conspiracy and cover-up is ludicrous. ---

Sorry, a drug addict is NEVER a “former/recovereD” addict. Before anyone asks, yes I am surprised Hamilton has apparently stayed on the straight a narrow. ---

Another straw man, as observed by **Munch**. No-one here has described Washington as a former or recovered addict. Also, despite the fact that there may be no such thing as a former or recovered addict, there are addicts–many of them–who never relapse into using drugs. Do you deny this fact? ---

As insanely frustrating as the Blue Jays are, it remains an enormous pleasure to watch Jose Bautista play baseball, and I wish him well wherever he ends up because I assume he’s going to demand to be traded from this eternally mediocre team. Marcus Stroman is also wonderful, and we get to watch him for another five years before he leaves for a place where he can win. ---

God, the A’s are just pathetic right now. Leading by one run with two outs and two strikes in the ninth inning, they give up a home run to tie the game, and then lose it in extra innings. Eight games back now. ---
