Yankees’ Greg Bird expected to miss 2 months following foot surgery. He really is looking like a can’t stay healthy guy. ---

Such a shame as he seemed like he had a ton of potential. Austin and Walker can fill in so the impact won’t be severe. I’d like to see if they could try having Sanchez learn 1B. His passed balls are too much of a liability for me but you can’t take his bat out of the lineup. This way Higashioka could be Romine’s backup and the both of them are better defensive catchers. ---

It’s possible that Bird will be back some time in June, and will play out the season. It’s the same ankle that caused so many problems last year; I hope this is the end of it, but who knows? Could it be Nick Johnson all over again? I know the Yankees had Sanchez working out at first over the years, but I never heard if he was any good. Stanton and Judge both _look_ like first baseman. I wounder if either have an aptitude for it. The Neil Walker signing looks ever better, all of a sudden. ETA: The Yankees also have Miquel Andujar getting first base time at AAA, so they’ve got a lot of insurance. ---

In a wonderful moment, Vlad Guerrero Jr. hits a walk off home run in the final spring training game… in Montreal, where he was born and his father played. But I’ve watched Guerrero Jr. and I’ll tell you this; I don’t believe in God but I’m praying every night for his health. His bat speed, mechanics, contact rte and power are out of this world. They’ve handed him an 80 score for bat potential and 65 for power, which is the scouting way of saying “Contact like Rod Carew, power like Reggie Jackson” and trust me, it’s no joke. He has a hell of an eye, too. I don’t think he’s gonna be an MLB third baseman but if he stays healthy - please God - he is an utterly terrifying hitter. ---

That was a special moment for Montreal fans, hope they get a team again someday. Now the Blue Jays bats can take a holiday for the next four games until the Yankees are out of town. ---
