I knew that there is a rightward tilt in a lot of these professional sports leagues. I don’t know what’s in the CBA for the umpires, but I’d seriously question the sanity of a 50 year old man with a good paying job. What if a Democrat wins and throws out the first ball for the Nats home opener? I’d like to think that the home plate umpire isn’t going to assassinate the President. Or, let’s assume that President Trump is impeached and convicted in the Senate and removed from office. The Nats won the World Series and they’re honored next season. Nancy Pelosi is a guest of honor, I’d like to think that any threat to her safety isn’t going to come from the umpire ---

I think he needs to go. Obviously he’s entitled to his political opinions, but preparing for revolution if the constitutional process doesn’t go your way is beyond the pale. If he’s behind home plate and a known liberal is pitching, does his strike zone shrink to the size of a peanut? Is he going to be quick to toss players and managers that he suspects aren’t on team red? ---
