Dr. Pepper was my granfather’s favorite soft drink. Since my folks didn’t keep a lot of pop around the house, going to grandpa and grandma’s was great, because he would give us a whole bottle all to ourselves. I still think of him when I drink it from a can instead of glass. Does anyone remember the Saturday Night Live sketch about Dr. Pepper? ---

mmmmmm, i never went to the Dr. Pepper museum in Waco while I went to school at Baylor and still regret it. My boyfriend’s step-mom is so addicted to the stuff. Anyone ever enjoyed the fun of a flaming Dr.Pepper at a bar? It’s a shot of amaretto liquer with a dash of 151 on top to set fire to, then the shot is dropped in a beer and you chug. Good stuff I tell ya. ---

I like Dr Pepper, but it’s rare to get here. And it dissolved my teeth. So I don’t drink it very often at all. ---

Dr Pepper is one of my favorite carbonated beverages. My favorite soda is Faygo Red Pop. No other strawberry flavored soda is quite as good as Faygo. Rec cherry pop is good, but a whole different flavor. ---

I haven’t had a Dr. Pepper in ages, but I don’t know why, because it’s great! The key for me is to close my eyes and pretend it’s purple. And I saw that Saturday Night Live skit. “Can I send you some free Pepper literature?” ---

I go with the Diet – and drink it all day long. It’s nice because everyone knows it’s what I drink, so when I go over to someone’s house, there’s a nice two-liter bottle with my name on it! ---

My father worked as a cost accountant for Dr Pepper in Dallas when I was a child. He was one of the relatively few who knew the ingredients of the stuff—he didn’t know the recipe, just the ingredients. Prune juice ain’t one of 'em. He used to bring home a case a week, and that was okay. On the downside, I wasn’t allowed to EVER drink any other kind of soft drink----loyalty to the employer and all that.
