I’m looking at a can right now and aside from the usuals (carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, etc.), they list “Artificial and Natural Flavors”. Which flavors these are exactly are not listed. ---

Dr. Pepper is pretty good, but I like the company for one simple reason: They gave Sun-Drop to the world. That stuff is the true elixir of the Gods. ---

Plus, back in those bad old days, no one ever listed their ingredients and no law forced them to. And, there were trade secret issues involved with keeping knowledge of the exact ingredients restricted. Even though my father knew the ingredients, he didn’t know the recipe–how much of this, how little of that kind of thing. ---

Caffiene Free Diet Dr. Pepper is pretty good. One step above water, but as calorie and caffiene free sodas go, it’s good. It’s not nearly as awful as Caffiene Free Diet Coke, which tastes like Satan’s butt. ---

According to Alton Brown, you can order Dr. Pepper made with the _original recipie_ (cane sugar **not** corn syrup) from [Dublin Dr. Pepper](http://www.dublindrpepper.com) who claims to be the oldest Dr Pepper bottler in the world. It’s not really cheap, but it might be worth it to re-capture the taste I remember from my childhood. ---

If you put a shot of amaretto in a coke, it tastes like Dr. Pepper. Maybe that is the key to its ingredients. ---
