MMORPG recommendations (alternatives to WoW)

Yeah, mining sucks. Almost nobody likes mining.
But maybe you should check it out again and spec as a PvP’er, instead.
If you’d like, PM me and I can send you an invite that gives you a three week trial account.

There are also Doper corps and a channel (IIRC) ‘teeming millions’, and maybe one of those guys could help you. I haven’t been in-game much recently and I’m in Razor in any case, but maybe a multi-faction Doper gatecamp/roam/whatever might be fun some night.

Or one Ishtar.

It is what you make of it, really. You can grind as much or as little as you want.

The fact that your alliance recently booted my, mswas, and sturmhulk’s alliance out of 0.0 space makes me laugh more than it should. We didn’t stand a chance.

Right but what people describe is either quest/mission (mission = grind to me) or get involved in raiding and deal with some incredibly stupid people. (Based on the healer thread)

It depends on who you play with. Even a “grind” can be extremely enjoyable with a good mix of people. I typically only play with people I know, unless I am helping out random lowbies while recruiting for my group.

Raiding is also tremendously enjoyable for us because we do not take it too seriously. We have no DKP, no rigid schedules, no one gets thrown out if they do not show up.

I wouldn’t deal with all the shit talked about upthread for any game, really.

ETA: there is also an interesting spin on PvP. You can play either your regular toon or a creep (orc, warg, spider, troll, etc) in special zones of Middle Earth. It’s quite a bit of fun for a game that is primarily PvE. But after the latest paid expansion, there are a few balance issues that need to be corrected.

Ahh, well LOTRO sounds neat just for the environmental immersion aspect of the game. WoW just sounds incredibly dull, and I have yet to hear anything that changes my mind on that. It also seems like a lot of games are WoW variants. I’m really interested to see what CCP does with the Vampire the Masquerade game. That could be very cool.

The only thing about a vampire game is that vampires are supposed to be incredibly rare. It’s like in Star Wars: Galaxies, where they started letting people be Jedis and soon, everyone you met had a lightsaber. (Although the Jump to Lightspeed expansion pack gameplay was very fun, and it could have been turned into a much better game if it hadn’t been made by Sony Online Entertainment.)

Valete,
Vox Imperatoris

ETA: That Bloodlines game was fun, though. I need to finish it.

we still are, just scheduling is a bitch=[

Yea, we’re here and ready to go to Peter Luger’s.
