**drae** , do NOT tell them in advance that you are looking. That could come back and bite you on the arse. It has nothing to do with how nice you are. Nice is giving them two weeks notice AFTER you’ve found another job. Many places will schedule interviews after hours if you ask. As far as updating your resume, check with friends and online for a model you can use to reshape yours. Makes it much easier. ---

They can fire my ass today, and I’d go gleefully. With my skills, I can have a temp job inside a day and a half. I just feel mildly guilty about suddenly leaving them with no receptionist–even though I told them when I interviewed two years ago that I didn’t want to be on the phone too much. :eek: Ah, well, such is life. The thing is, I don’t mind being a receptionist, I hate being a receptionist/admin assistant/internet department processor/personal secretary to idiot executives. And just about any reception position in a nicer company would pay more than I’m making right now. As far as I’m concerned, if I had my druthers I’d go out to lunch today and never come back. But I’m also quite cranky today. 🙂 ---

There’s a Discworld novel where there’s Cockney slang that doesn’t rhyme _at all_, or make any sense. We had shredded pork and refried beans with chili seasoning, wrapped in pita. And I did a huge bowl of grilled mixed veggies. And the boys brought chips. I made pita chips, too, and there was chocolate gingerbread and trifle for dessert. I made Dishwashing Husband (trying desperately to become something else) and Lazy Husband do the dishes. I’ve only got minimal cleaning up to do today. ---

Good morning, MMPers! I’m off today and totally goofing off. I watched The Notebook this morning, and cried my eyes out. What a sweet movie. It’s raining and in the 50’s here. Pretty yucky out. I’m going out later to pick up groceries after I decide what to have for dinner. Nothing sounds good. **Rosie** , check out the “She said yes!” thread for the pic you requested of our engagement. I have tummy troubles today. It sucks to feel poorly on your day off… ☹ I hope everybody gets to feeling better and has an easy day at work and…and…just everybody be happy, dammit! 😃 ---

Whew - another flash of energy! I did a load of towels, stripped and remade the bed, including flipping the mattress (fun with a king size and no help) and put a hunk of beef into the oven. I thawed it last week and forgot about it. But it passed the nose test, so it’s now covered with onion, garlic, salt, pepper, worcestershire, and celery. After an hour or so, I’m going to drop the temp on the oven and let it roast till it’s falling apart. I may toss a carrot or two in there. Or not. **FCD** managed to eat and drink a little, which is good. His throat is mega-sore and swallowing is painful. I offered to make some warm broth, but he passed. We’ll see how he’s feeling a little later. I also talked to my mom - she and Bernie are best buds. That means Bernie is being spoiled rotten. Mom is all out of the wet food packets I sent along, so she’s going to give Bernie some meat scraps and gravy. Cracks me up… ---

We’re going to the City tomorrow (New York City) and plan to hit the metropolitan Museum of Art. Have I told you guys this? My brain is gone, i can’t remember. Anyway, we’re also going to Chinatown - what fun! And we’ll hit Little India, too, because that’s the beauty of a mixed-race couple! Gotta to do the \*\*white \*\* person stuff, the **China** -person stuff, and the **Hindu** -person stuff or gotta do NOTHING. 😃 I think I’m going to use my Chinese New Year money to buy a small silver ring, I have no rings I like and I love silver rings. Looking forward to it! **FCM** , \*\*FCD \*\* is in my thoughts! And so is the whole Fairy Family (snerk) including Bernie. I’m glad he was able to eat a bit. Um…FCD, not Bernie. ---

I’m waiting for you to rave over your toilet, **gotti** so I don’t feel like a big goof for raving over _mine_ a few weeks ago! I’m not a deep-fried southerner, just a mid/upper South Southerner and it’s COLD today. Br, br, br. Nearly 60 yesterday; just above freezing right now. I hate it! I want the warm. I’ll even take the hot. I personally love August and its HHH. I couldn’t live in the nort for nuttin! I’m am currently mired in HTML. It’s a sticky, gooey morass, not unlike fudge before it hardens … pausing for \ … or even Marshmellow Fluff, prior to being laid upon a bed of peanut butter. Or perhaps a dark, evil-smelling tar, which sticks to the bottom of the shoe. I am not a happy coder. I’m more of a "write what lies between the \<\> \<\>'s kinda gal. But–at least I’m writing a newsletter, which makes my life a modicum brighter than having to do poopy old public relations normally makes me. ---

MOMA sounds like a blast, **Mika** --be sure to stand back from the exhibits, look pompous and say things like, “this piece shows movement and from that one can see the subtle layers of social commentary inherent in all his work.” 🙂 I am back from the hairplace–took them almost 3 hours to do my hair. It is official–I am gorgeous (or at least my hair is!). I really like the color and the cut–a first! I wish I had a camera phone or someway to show you, but I don’t. It’s a honey/caramel color and she layered it at the bottom, so it doesn’t just lay there. Now, to clean bathrooms–a life of glamour, I tells ya! Sorry you’re sick, **cb** --be sure to wipe off your keyboard next time… 🙂 **FCM** --when I had outpt surgery last summer, what hurt me MOST was my throat from the laryngo-mask that they used to put me under. Perhaps that is what is bothering your other half. Pain pills should help that as well. And broth. Is he taking fluids well, now? Hope so–they will help the healing along. ---

I know it hurts to swallow but something like chicken broth should help that a little. Or maybe it was tequila. 😕 **mika** , your trip sounds like fun.
