Sheesh, right after I posted the power went out…at the HOSPITAL…SHEESH. I just now came back on. Do not be worried, there was emergency power to the inpatient areas and the like, but areas like mine did not have power. So, no 'puter, no lights, no workee. I don’t have a window in my office, so it was dark as an underground cave. I sat here for nearly four hours twiddling my thumbs. It was BOOOOOORRRRRRING! We have high winds and extreme cold, so there are power outages all over the place. Glad to hear that **FCD** took in a little nourishment. That’s good news. Okay, sigh, I need to do work now. :rolleyes: ---

In case anyone is wondering, my house smells beefy-riffic!! And I just finished watering my houseplants, including cleaning up one spider plant that was kinda raggedy looking. It’s much tidier now. I thought about vacuuming, but then I wouldn’t have anything to do tomorrow… ---

May I at least vacuum? I have to do something, since tomorrow most likely we are taking the kids downtown (to show off my hair of course). No, seriously, I need to do some housework today. And now I have a dilemma: I am not bringing shit here, but I need some advice. I am on another bb which is getting kinda draconian with the mods. What is the timeline for membership in an online bb? I have heard that it’s about 2-3 years (barring the SDMB, of course!) and then, especially if it’s small, you’re done with it. Does that jive with anyone’s experience? I find myself getting impatient with others there, because they don’t seem to want adult conversations (not porn, they’re happy with porn, more’s the pity), they don’t seem to like discussions–as in, “I disagree with you and here’s why.” Maybe I’ve finally grown up enough to be a full time Doper. I find that half a loaf constitutes no satiety for me. Thoughts? ---

**rigs** right now I am on three boards. This one, of course, because I want to be unignernted and a cool kid, and two more devoted to a lot of silliness and fun camaraderie. I’ve been on others that I’ve left after a year or two with no regrets because they just weren’t doing it for me anymore. So, I’d say a couple years is the limit with most places. There are a couple I “haunt” (lurk) and haven’t signed up on because while fun to read, I don’t see my being real active. Oh, and none of them have to do with Pr0n. ---

I had been on a board for a group I belong to - there was a lot of “I disagree and here’s why” Too much, in fact. At times that board made the Pit look like a daycare group. I stayed there 6 months I’ve dropped out of 2 others that were giving me watered down versions of what I can get here. I’m a Doper for life ---

I’ve always liked spider plants, but they do get scrappy looking. I use to give mine showers. Actually, all my house plants got watered in the shower. What a chore that was! I don’t have the energy for that anymore. Will all you cleaning people just stop it right now! I feel bad enough about my lazy butt the way it is. My step-daughter is coming over to do my work for me. I knew those nasty you.are.not.my.mom. years would pay off eventually 🙂 Poor **FCD**. At least he is being well tended to. Poor **everybody else**. We sure have alot of sickies round here this week! I’ve decided my nickname for **lumberman** will be **Blade**. ---

No! **SJ Gumby!** from Monty Python… I don’t **Blade** at all, but then I wanted **Winny**. There’s nothing wrong with **Winny** --it was Churchill’s nickname! Ah hell, I’l never remember his right name at this point! Re the other bb. They are all nice women (and about 3 men)–it’s a nursing bb. I have alot of respect for them as nurses and people. It’s just that there is no “there”, there, if you follow me. There is no intellectual discourse–anything started is over with in about 8 posts. It’s dull. And yet, these are folks that I can go bitch about job stresses with etc–nurses are not supposed to complain about pts etc (even here there is constraint–I feel constrained). So-here I sit. Sorry for the interruption. I have vacuummed, cleaned baths, and even swiffered the computer room floor-and put in the second load of laundry. I feel righteous. no dinner plans, though. ---

If you _must_ then have at the hooverin’. 😉 I’ve found that the more specialized or narrow a board is (i.e., I was a member on a dog fancier board), the shorter the duration of my membership. Mainly cause the same thread subjects tended to come up over and over again. I DID develop some very friendly relationships with people there though. I like that the dope has such a diverse group of people. You get a lot more interesting thoughts that way. I also like it’s geographical diversity. It’s fun sharing with good folks from all over the country and sometimes other countries. ---

Aagh! Something ate **rosie**! _She tried to talk about **it** _. Just watch the second two eps of _Lost_, had a nap, and now it’s time to tidy the kitchen and think about dinner. Instead of tidying I usually end up cooking, so I made a big pan of cornbread. I’ll give some to Quasi-Daughter, and some to Attacks Husband. Must tidy kitchen. But I don’t _want_ to!
