OK, we’re set up for his follow up appointment next Thurs. And Bernie is staying with my mom till then. We’ll see the doc at 10:45, then head up to Mom’s for lunch. **FCD** is in bed again - he’s in such pain. I feel so helpless right about now. But sleep is probably the best thing for him over the next few days. Sleep and pain killers. And occasional kitty visits. We’ll get him over this hump. I want chocolate. ---

YAY! **FCD** is home! **FCM** sweetie, if you’re craving chocolate, I say go get some! It’s the day after Valentine’s Day. Chocolate sales abound! I know cause I (ok we) am the proud owner of several heart shaped boxes full of baby Reese’s Cups, assorted heart shaped boxes of Whitman’s, and several bags of pink and red M&M’s. The M&Ms are to be made into M&M cookies and be munched on. ACBG and I did our traditional (since last year!) day after V-Day forage for candy. The day after Easter we shall do our traditional (since last year!) forage for day after Easter candy. Of such things are great traditions born! So, he’s sleeping. Go get some chocolate. It’s not like he’ll know. ---

Actually, he’s no longer sleeping. We just finished the big Sponge Bath Experiment - it wasn’t too terrible. I changed his bandage and photographed his incision - dang - it’s about 7" long and all stapled shut!! I also held the basin while he brushed his teeth, and helped him get into clean flannel pants. He feels better, and I’m about to go fetch pizza. I’ll be off work till Tues, so I think I’ll be OK. I have to run to the store tomorrow, but mostly, I’ll just be putzing around the house. And surfing the Dope. I appreciate your concern, but so far, so good! Even without chocolate! 😃 ---

I am just back from Chess! My son (aged 7) is in a chess “club”–the same people who did “Knights of the South Bronx” run his program. He has learned alot. I played as a kid, but never did alot with it. They had a parent’s night to “come beat your kid at chess” (joke!). Parents were there to learn about the game and the program. Kids were not invited. I was one of 2 parents to show. BUT–I got a one on one tutorial with some chess master-type guy (no, I don’t know what his rank is–it never occurred to me to ask). I learned so much in one hour! I wanted to keep playing, but it was cold and dark outside–plus, I think the guy wanted to go home… Retreat today was great. We had to split into small groups and create something that represented shared governance to our group. We did a rap song (yep, Ms Whitey From Suburban Soccer Mom World. Catch my bling, you home boys! or something). It was alot of silly fun–think pep rally for grown ups. The world could use more such things. ---

Yay for the **FairyChatFamily**! Kitty love will make him heal up really well. I got home from work, did a bit of working out, and cleaned the bathoom for cardio. I’m just about to do my second set of weights and crunches, and then I’ll maybe start going through junk in the kitchen that I want to toss. I’m trying to avoid a repeat of last night’s sleeplessness by being exhausted from physical activity. It usually works. Mr. Lissar is at Lazy Husband’s enjoying his time off. He did the garbage and laundry today, so he deserves loafing. I’m hungry. After exercise I think I’ll eat something. ---

Went to the grocery and the library and then spent the rest of the evening watching dumb movies and continuing to organize stuff for taxes. Should be done with the organization part tomorrow so that I can finish updating Money and can get the taxes done and transmitted by the end of the weekend (I have Monday off as well, so there’s actually a chance of this accomplishment). Is it Friday yet? I feel like I haven’t gotten anything done all week, so I’d just like to finish it off and get a new start on everything next week. Glad the FairyChats are home. **Bumba** said what I was going to say about your job, **Drae**. Enough thinking already, now get out there and look, young lady! Just look at **taxi**! She’s looking and getting actual interviews; you can too! [/Mom mode] I think **'nanners** is a fun nickname. My guess on the Swiss cheese holes was that they get turned into those little BabyBels that are wrapped in red wax. I think they just get welded together (that’s a technical cheesemaking term). Chess sounds like fun **rigs**! I’m amazingly bad at it, but I like to think it’s only because I’ve never had the right teacher. Well, I’m falling asleep at the computer - just popped in to say hi! Colbert was a rerun, so I surfed a bit then shut the TV off and fell asleep. I had a weird dream, the only thing I remember is selling t-shirts, and woke up thinking it had to be about 2 am - it was only 12:40. so I re-watched the rest of Drawn Together and came in here, played a few games, and decide to whine to you about my insomnia whinewhinewhine there. I feel much better now. ---

Isn’t insomnia fun? My personal favorite is the brand where you fall asleep at a normal hour and then wake up at a ridiculous hour, unable to fall asleep again. :rolleyes: I’m currently sleeping in the guest bedroom because I was having lots of trouble sleeping in what’s supposed to be my room. I’m still trying to figure out why I can sleep better in bedroom #2. Still don’t sleep great, but…better. GT ---

**’nanners** there are days when all I do is answer stoopid questions. That’s when I want my “If you ask me a stoopid question, there will be a $100 dollar fine” sign. Todays weird shaped cardboard projects are to finish up the one where all the holes get punched out (they are weird shaped pieces of cardboard that go between layers of ice cream containers (full of ice cream) that are being shipped) and then start on breaking up weird shaped pieces of retangular cardboard that I assume are used as spacers to separate whatever is being shipped. The order after that is for the weird round and square shaped cardboard that are end caps for carpet rolls. After that, we get to glue weird shaped cardboard boxes that hold some kind of lighting stuff. Heck, for all I care they can set the stuff on fire and toast marshmallows, as long as we get paid for doing whatever they want to the weird shaped pieces of cardboard. ---

My sweetie is in such pain and I can’t do much of anything. It’s going to be a loooooooong day, I fear. ---

This morning, Roomie hurt herself on the spiral staircase on her way to the shower, and now I get to take today off to cart her around to doctors and such. She was a ballerina in her teens until her knees gave out, and then about three years ago she was in a horrible car accident that made her left knee even worse, and today she whacked it so hard she can’t even walk. So, while I’m spending the day being her bitch, I’ll also call a locksmith and spend some time cruising [Monster.com](http://Monster.com). I listen when enough people tell me something. 🙂 ---

Not a good week for some of us, is it? Tuppyhugs to everybody who’s having a tough time. **fcm** , I sure hope **fcdad** gets extra points in the big book for dealing with this experience. Sure hope the pain subsides soon. **bobbio** , that was funnier than hell. **gt, rosie and liss** , I feel for ya. I’ve never suffered from insomnia (knock on wood) but I know I’d probably be the biggest baby if I did. I made Adult Beanie Weenie for dinner last night. See ya takes some canned baked beans and a turkey smoked sausage cut into chunks and put em together. Then you add some onion flakes, mustard, molasses and ketchup (just some dollops) and put it in a casserole pan. Top it with some bread crumbs and parmesan cheese and bake it at about 375 for 45 minutes. It was really really good and filling. And low fat! I am entering billing hell now. Give me strength. I just got word that Pothead is in the probation detention center. What a weird name for a place to go if you violate probation. Why, I didn’t even know such places existed until now. The things I learn! I mean, I knew about transitional centers. That’s where some people go to finish out the last six to nine months of a prison sentence. There’s one here and we do some work with “residents” there to assist in finding jobs. Strange place. It’s in an old hotel. This particular transitional center is for men. There’s one for women in my hometown. I seem to gravitate towards places that have transitional centers. Hmmmmm… Oh, and I was nice this morning. I made coffee. I didn’t drink any of it either. Just made it for everybody else. I’m an angel. ---

We are here for you, prn (as needed). **FCM** --try distraction if sleep won’t work (one can only sleep so much)–does he have any favorite movies? Today might be a good day for the LOTR movie marathon at your house. Good luck. And get a nap, if you can. Keep those pain pills coming, don’t wait for the pain to be severe; take them as scheduled. Any other issues, contact the doc. **Drae** --try to anticipate her needs, and group things together, ie bring her water and tissues, her meal and a napkin and the remote, trips to bathroom or whatever. That gives you more time to surf for new employment. **welby** -sleep and fluids and take those antibiotics until they are gone! You listening to me, man? Fluids–no caffeine-fluids. And rest. Time for a Harry Potter movie marathon at your house. To the insomniacs–no caffeine at dinner, maybe take a walk after dinner, nice hot bath and a mildly good book (no page turners!) and off to sleep go you. \ Now. My work here is done.
