Hiya all. It’s been nutso, crazy here at work. I am SICK, SICK TO DEATH of spreadsheets and DBs. Blech… I spent the morning QA’ing some data that I had pulled yesterday. Although the numbers, are the numbers, are the numbers, something just felt off. I found the problem, but it really didn’t change the results all that much. So, now I get to try and explain why are results have dropped. Mmmmmm, I dunno, maybe because people aren’t returning the friggin’ results back through the Referral section? Or they didn’t enter the results in one of the many resulting areas they are supposed to? I dunno…why don’t you ask THEM. Gah and bah. The mental image of seven foot or taller people have an egg rolling contest is sort funny. **FCM,** can I have dinner at your house? Huh? Huh? Can I?! It’ll only take me until tomorrow to get there. I didn’t take meat out of the freezer for dinner. I’m thinkin’ bacon and eggs for dinner tonight. It’s quick, easy, and available. I also learned the secret for properly defrosting frozen fish. One should defrost it in milk in the frig’. Yay on **gt’s** new appliances. My son is all up for National Talk LIke a Pirate Day. He even has the Jack Sparrow braids and bandana so he can sort of look like a pirate. ---

Well, the newsletter is done and folded into thirds for mailing, the address labels are printed - all I have to do is stick on the labels and stick the fold shut. It’s not very impressive looking - I hope to do better next time. **gt** , thanks for the link. I’ve saved it to look through when I feel a bit more motivated. As in maybe next week. I want stew and hot bread. I got a salad from the local Italian place, but their homemade dressing wasn’t as good as it used to be. I was disappointed. Back to sticking. I’ll check in later. ---

I just got a bread machine from freecycle, but I haven’t had time to actually try it yet. I really have to; I used to bake bread the oooold-fashioned way, which is yummy beyond description, but these days the only time I use yeast is to bake biscuits for the dogs. Because, I mean, who deserves spoiling around here, humans or critters? I mean, really. ---

That is a great mental image. I want a cane with a spike on the end, so I can plant it in someone’s foot, lean on it, and tell them about the good old days. I’ll see if I can dig up a video clip of assaya somewhere. There was one on YouTube a while back. Before I forget, here’s my mental notes from my amazing three classes tonight. I am going to hurt tomorrow. In the first class we did walking undulations with a three-quarter twist- we were walking sideways, but turning to face the right and left front corners of the room, so we were on a diagonal to the imaginary audience. After that we drilled three-quarter walking shimmy and simple backwards walk ("Right left right! Left right left! Right left right!). After that I had folklore, which was still kaleegy, and pretty. In the third class we did did released backward figure eights with undulation, which I suck at, because I don’t keep enough isolation through my torso, but whatever, vertical slides with hip kick, and finally vertical hip circles, walking, which were pretty easy. Oh, and I suck at finger cymbals, too. A whole room filled with women badly playing finger cymbals. Loud. Now I’m home and I want a bath. I’m all sweaty and gross. ---

I’m at home with 'puter problems. The fast, good computer was acting up, so hubby wanted to reinstall the OS. The problem was, system wouldn’t read the fact that there was CD in the drive. So, we we’re doing a security check on the computer. We have discovered 11 threats which may or may not be viruses. We’re still waiting for the system to finish scanning. Since hubby didn’t bother purchasing a anti-virus system, we’re going to end up paying for it now and have to clean the drive. I’m not surprised really, The kids like to get in there and look at videos and what not, so I’m sure things have gotten in there that shouldn’t be. What an exciting evening for me. :rolleyes: ---

General consensus amoungst my fellow CS guys is that AVG is somewhere in the range of 10,000 (give or take an order of magnitude) times better than Norton and on par or better than any other purchasable anti-virus software. ---

[Men’s assaya and women’s assaya are different. Here’s men’s assaya. It’s more cutesy, and evolved out of attempted mocking of the men’s dance. They’re wearing typical cabaret costumes.](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtbWOBtEB6g) The music is either saidi or baladi, with a distinctive rhythm. Women’s assaya has a lot of balancing-the-cane-on-your-head-and-dancing. Mr. Lissar disapproves of me being given a weapon. ---

I love your directions, that’s the way I cook too! **fcm** that was a fun OP, cool pattern on your sunburn, and if you are still in possession of that super cool pink mug and are willing to let it loose, please email me, it’s in my profile. **ursus palustris** when you speak of metal aigs, the picture I get in my mind is of those anodized metal drinking tumblers from the 50’s/60’s, which would make for very pretty Easter aigs. Am I close? We are getting ready for a couple of walls to be torn out, and a new heater and water heater installed. The forced air heater is so dead, and I hate forced air heat anyway. We are getting a toyo stove and water heater, and will be saving big on fuel oil prices and electricity. Once this is done I will have all new appliances, and I must be getting old, because that makes me extraordinarily happy! However skiffman and I have been busy emptying the last of the boxes which didn’t get unpacked from last September’s move, and I have been purging. I have had to put many items back in the toss pile, because skiffman is a pack rat. It physically pains him to part with anything. We have found some old photographs, I will try to incorporate some into the next OP I volunteer for. _NOTE_ I am NOT volunteering for this coming week, the demolition will keep me far too occupied! Yesterday was beyootiful, so we grilled burgers, accompanied with another raw veggie platter, chips and dip, and roasted marshmallows. Being it was a school night the kids went in early to get ready for bed, while skiffman and I sat on the deck by the glowing coals and watched the stars come out. I had a couple of adult beverages while he drank his soda, and we just spent some time talking and just being together. The last five years he has been fishing almost constantly, so it was a treat to have time to just sit and be. So, not only are we getting ready for interior demolition, not only is it high red tide, but I have caught the first school child born virus of the year, and it’s only the third week of school. Everything aches, and I am a little grumpy and a whole lot of sleepy. My irl name is Wendy Jo, and I have a very imaginative family. The list of my nicknames would take an OP in and of itself. I do thank God that my bio-dad nixed Pandora and Wendy Darling, my mom was young and romantically inclined… The most infamous nick came from my Uncle George who called me Snicklefritz Murgatroyd Hunchydump for decades, how elegant is that? lol! So, I will never catch up with either last week or this week, but I will be watching all of you, so behave yourselves!\* \*Just kidding, the first part of this week was hilarious! Keep it up and I will lose my inhibitions and start keeping up with y’all! ---

**Tupug** and and **VunderBob** , thanks for screaming at me about the smoking. I know deep down I shouldn’t. I’ve held off so far and I think I’ll be able to - so that’s good. The other girl from my firehouse that’s in the class with me knew what I was thinking and talked me out of it. The are some stresses in my life that I’m having trouble dealing with, and it seemed like smoking or eating are my only ways to cope, and eating is definitely not what I need right now. I need to get my butt to the gym and sweat it out. ---

**Snicklefritz** , those tumblers are kinda like what I’m talkin’ about when I say giant metal Easter aigs. Somebody asked me (I forgot who, and I’m too lazy to look it up, So There! 😛 ) if they had any color. Some are blue, some are green, some are blue and green, and I think some are red. They all have some kind of pattern on ‘em. Oh, and **Snickle** I’m glad you and skiffman had some time together. Sittin’ out on the deck just watchin’ the sky and talkin’ sounds like a nice evening to me. Yay for **gt and ol’ fritz** for the new appliances and stuff. Ain’t home improvement just a big ol’ kick! I’ll second **Snicklefritz**. My dear departed grandmother called every kid she saw who was 5 and under that name. Fond memory → 🙂 The rest of what your uncle called you will be tossed on the trash heap… When I got about halfway to work this morning, there was a sea of red and blue flashing lights in the road. About 5 cop cars and 2 bambilances… When I got close, all of the responders were milling around a car upside down in the ditch, rather flattened, and no one was making a concerted effort to make an extraction. ☹☹☹ ---

I’ve never really had a nickname either, or at least, nothing that was ever used by more than one person. One that I kind of like (but only one former coworker uses) is Ed, which, had I taken hubby’s last name, would have been my initials. We bought new appliances when we moved into this apartment. It was such a grown-up thing to do! We bought all five; washer, dryer, fridge, stove and dishwasher. We still don’t have the dishwasher installed, though, because we need to get my uncle-in-law to come by and do a minor readjustment of the counter support, but he’s so busy gutting his kitchen and redoing it entirely by himself, we feel bad asking for his help! We will probably do it soon. 3 pieces of good news: 1. I got a job offer offer (no, that’s not a typo). The place I interviewed at last week called yesterday to tell me they were going to proceed with checking references and put an offer together, most likely for me to meet them on Friday. I’ll probably take it, assuming the pay is reasonable (and I have no reason to think it won’t be). Without traffic, it’s about 15-20 minute drive away. With traffic, it’s maybe in the 30-40 minute range. I need to take the bridge and get off the island to get there, but I live on the street that is the bridge access (easy!) and most people commute onto the island, not off it, so I have the advantage of going against traffic. yay! 2. Hubby had a job interview yesterday and it went really well. It’s basically his dream job, and it has a starting salary above what he was expecting. They need to interview other people, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed! 3. I slept today/last night! Just a little bit, but it’s amazing what 1 hour of dozing in front of the TV can do to make you feel refreshed after nearly 48 hours without sleep (following a few days of only getting 4 hours!). After that, I was able to get another 2.5 or so hours, but it was interrupted because this cough hasn’t gone away yet. It is getting better, though, so hopefully I can kick this insomnia in the next couple of days. If I need to go to the company for the job offer, though, I’m still gonna make my husband drive me, just to be safe. He’s been really sweet, getting me medicine to treat the constantly changing cold symptoms, buying soup for me, making me tea, and even picking things up for me if they are across the room because around midday yesterday, just getting up to get the remote from the other couch had me totally winded! Going all the way to the washroom was like running a bloody marathon! But now my brain is finally listening to my body and agreeing that sleep isn’t evil, so if they can just chase this damn cold away, I’ll be “jake”, as you Cool Kids would say! ---

They said they’d throw in the gutters, too, which was nice, considering if we go with this company it’ll be $38,000 for the work! Holy crap, I didn’t think it would be that expensive. But that’s what 100% PVC cedar shakes for a ranch costs. ---
