I had the thymectomy many years ago, and it improved things a lot, but I’m never sure if I completely recovered. When you’re only symptom is “I’m tired”, are you tired because it wasn’t 100% effective, because you’re out of shape, because you aren’t getting enough Vit. D. or because you’re developing not quite but almost lupus? ---

I vote **Bionic Man**! I have just had a truly ridiculous fall; worthy of the movies. I slipped on something, and hit the ground. My laptop went flying and was saved by hitting my head on the way back down. I wish my daughter had been able to film it. ---

I just heard from the garage. They’re going to charge me between $500 and $600 to replace the heater core, in my ol’ Jeep. The Jeep dealership told me they would charge me $1,000 to $1,200 to repair it. So, it’ll be going to the garage, instead of the dealership! They won’t be able to schedule it for a couple of weeks. So, as soon as my daughter can secure a ride to work, and back, for a couple of days, I’ll get it scheduled. I hope that’s the last of it. It usually comes threefold, though. It was the refrigerator going tits up, then, I blew a brake line on the Jeep. This should make it finally settle down. Hopefully nothing else goes tits up in the near future. This shit is gettin’ spendy! It will sure be nice to have a working heater, and defrosters, in the Jeep, this upcoming winter! Last winter, without them, was sheer hell. ---

Yet again, I’m pissed off at my SIL. He was supposed to take the trash and recycling today. He played video games. He went to the gym with his brother. Then he went to class. So \*\*FCD \*\*took the stuff to the convenience center, and he hurt his back. I just deleted a long rant about his worthless ass. Deep, calming breaths… ---

Well, that was a change. At 2pm it was 94F here. The a cool front moved it, with scattered tunder-boomers (they cancelled soccer due to lightning in the area) and now at 6:30pm it’s 74F. Now if it would just stay there… **FCM** , Nice, dammit!! Nappage has been completed and Dinner has been consumed so Internettin’ will occupy most of the evening. All y’'all take care. ---

It always comes up to hang a right on the street before mine, hang an immediate left on a street that it’s almost impossible to do anytime other than the middle of the night, go through the industrial park and THEN turn on my street. 😛 I could just, you know, go the next street down and turn right at the light. 😛 ---

In the past two weeks, my family has gone from “he’s OUR crazy relative” to “shit, we gotta get paperwork to sign papers for our crazy relative.” Fuuuu…ugly word. Now that my uncle has no capacity to assign legal decisions to the people he trusts, my mom and aunt have to go to court and wrest legal capacity from a sister who doesn’t speak to my uncle and a child who is only interested in the finances. We have to publish all petitions in the local legal organ. My uncle isn’t competent. We’re just fighting for the right to keep him in memory care, for his own safety. There’s no estate. My uncle has been estranged from his children most of my life. He’s bugfuck insane. We aren’t fighting for his assets. There are no assets. We’re fighting to retain nursing home visits. My mom and her sisters. My brother. Me. The kids. And to keep him in a safe environment. We have been his family for my lifetime. Even if he had financial resources, I don’t give a rat’s ass. We just want my uncle to be okay as he deals with dementia. His daughter just filed discovery paperwork to find my uncle’s wealth, because she’s next of kin. I hope she’ll drop her court petition when her lawyer explains that there’s no estate to recover. Uncle J has $1700.We found a memory care unit that would take him on Medicare. We worked out a visit schedule where Mama, my aunt, my brother, me, or one of my kids visits 2+ times per week. We went to the probate court so that my mom or aunt can make legal and medical decisions. Paid an attorney to guide us the whole way. And now his sister and daughter think we’ve overstepped. (It’s family and complicated, of course. The uncle in question was raised by my grandparents. He’s been my crazy uncle as long as I can remember. For his sake, I want what’s best for him. For the sake of mom and aunt, I kinda need a court decision allowing them to be responsible. Both are hyper-responsible. Both have been held responsible for Uncle J for far longer than my lifetime. Neither is cynical enough to see financial gain from his estate - there’s nothing to argue about. And both would grieve to see J do without if no one looked after Uncle J. I’m third in line. My uncle is the burden I inherit if he and I outlive the next generation. I don’t want that burden. But I’ll be goddamned if I let anyone take advantage of his insanity. He’s my crazy uncle, and he matters. Insane, but important. ---

Adding context: My uncle fell in his yard a couple of weeks ago. After he was rescued, he gave social worker instructions to call my aunt (local,) my mom, and the radio station (100 miles away) where I worked 20 years ago. Uncle was in hospital for a couple of days before someone tried the third number. ---

Back when I broke my foot trying to slide down a set of narrow, slippery stairs, the Puppy Doctor in the ER gave me a scrip which involved two different versions of Oxy and more paracetamol than I consume in five years. I only took one box of each; the two boxes of Oxy remained unopened. Yesterday I went to get to the pharmacy and asked if I could bring there some medication I had that I was not going to need, the pharmacist said yes, I gave her both boxes. I don’t know if they’ll go to the Medications Bank or what, but it’s something I’m glad to have off my hands and it seems stupid to send it to a landfill. Writing emails in French when you have an American speaking loudly next to you is hard. -er. I don’t think this particular guy can whisper; he seems like one of those people whose whispers manage to be more understandable than their usual voice, because they’re as loud but slower. One more day left in this project. This morning I got a call from a very newbie agent who had been given several questions to ask me and asked them all in order and exactly in the way they’d been given to him, and didn’t seem to understand the answers at all. One of them was “is it possible that you might be getting an extension?” I managed to avoid laughing out loud. Explaining that it’s you who fired the client is considered bad form 😛 ---

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and clear (dark, actually) with a predicted high of 95 and N.O.S. for the day. This mornin’ I shall lay in provisions. This afternoon I shall attend Jim’s funeral and shall have ush duty. We expect a crowd so two of us who are “old pros” at ush duty stepped forward and volunteered. We’re nice like that, dammit! 😃 Jim’s cremains (I like that word cause it’s so weird!) will be interred in the memory garden. OYKW is takin’ the afternoon off and will be there as well. Afterwards we shall go partake of a late N.O.L./early sup somewhere. I have a feelin’ that by that time I’ll be more in the mood to get takeout than go sit down somewhere and eat. **Peaches** cute pup! Hope everything works out with your mom and aunt gainin’ legal custody. I had a crazy uncle who had pretty much cut off all contact with family though he would occasionally talk with my mom. When we found out he was in a nursin’ home (transferred there after bein’ in the horsepistol) my next to oldest brother and I were able to gain custodianship (is that a word?) to ensure he stayed there. Bro did a ton more stuff than I did because he lives in Ye Olde Home Towne and could handle local stuff. We informed the other nieces and nephews of what was goin’ on and they were uber supportive in this, so we had that goin’ for us. **Nava** have you gone into happy dance mode yet? 😃 **Sunny** yikes! {{{ **Peaches** }}}- hope all goes well for you and yours. It’s sad how money, or the belief there’s money, can tear families apart. My mom’s younger brother got it in his head that she was using their father’s estate for herself rather than for the care of their mentally handicapped youngest sister. Mom offered to show Uncle all the accounting, but for years, he wouldn’t speak to her - he didn’t even come to my dad’s funeral. After the sister died and the remaining estate was divided between Mom and her brother, he did come visit her once. At least they made peace of a sort before he died. So, yeah, families and money can be, um, interesting. Tim gave me a bunch of work last night, so yay! Brent sent me some also. Not sure if I’ll be working this weekend again - we shall see.
