Where I live, if you leave a GSM phone sitting near a speaker, you will hear a loud sound coming through the speaker every 15 minutes with a certain rhythm “BEEP b’beep BEEP b’beep BEEP”.
Edited to add: “Page Repeat Period”, apparently. It varies from network to network.
