# Mobility Scooters: does one haggle over price, or just pay the list price?

I don’t know for sure what **Melbourne** was referring to, but the technology behind the Segway scooter came from a [wheelchair developed by Dean Kamen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBOT). I remember seeing a network news report on the wheelchair _years_ ago, but apparently it didn’t succeed in the marketplace. More recently, Dean Kamen’s company partnered with Toyota to reintroduce it. I haven’t heard much since, but [this](http://mobiusmobility.com/) seems to be the website for the company.
