# Mod Note from \[Why have conservatives left this message board?\]

This is so funny to me and I have to ask if **Sith Mod** was noting me to demonstrate my point in an ironic fashion.
OK, my statement stands, I do feel there is not only mod bias, but also some (very few) posters who have weaponized it, knowing they can dance on the line knowing that the other side would be slapped down for. I also believe I personally have been included in that unfair treatment.
However that post with the mod note was not complaining about the mods, it was simply honestly answering the question of the OP.
But OK, since the mod note tag, It’s just something I have come to expect here, and it is something I have accepted. Just like if I were to go to a right wing forum I could expect that Trump’s words are taken as truth and those mods to come down hard on anyone who challenges that, while allowing a lot of leeway to those who were also involved and pushed the limits. I’m not complaining as it’s your forum and you can run it as you chose and I accept that in my posting.
Even in posting this, I’m not even sure where this would go without getting a warning (and I usually abandon any thread where a mod has left such a comment or worse). This is a direct example as why I believe conservatives are leaving. (not that I identify as a conservative anymore for decades, but for my view on spirituality has put me on their radar).

Look, as a centrist who is probably still among the more-conservative Dopers here, I can say, the moderation here is way better than almost any other message board. Even to conservatives. If you think it’s bad, take a look at Reddit.

I don’t understand what you’re complaining about. This is not a knock against you personally. This is not the first time that @Miller has quite properly noted that criticisms of moderation are off-limits in the Pit just as they are everywhere else except in ATMB. If you don’t get that, that’s on you.

I concur. Now look, our Mods are human, and thus have some slight bias, sure. But it doesnt seem to impair how they do their jobs.

They are technically correct. Had you started a Pit thread on it, it would have been unquestionable. But let’s say that it were a thread on why New York pizza lovers feel harassed on the Board and you said the mods were biased in favor of Chicago deep dish pizza lovers and that why NYPLs feel marginalized, would that be a case where there are no bright lines in moderation and since you are not calling out a specific mod and it is germane to the thread so they could let it go? I’d say they could if they wanted as long as it didn’t turn into an anti-mod thread. It seems to be trending that technical rules violations that don’t turn into a hijack are ignored … for now.
But then again the rule has always been mod disagreements always go into ATMB so maybe this is the rare hard-line rule.

I think there are one or two mods that are not good at their job, but that doesn’t mean they’re biased. And everyone has a slip up now and then - even the best. I think that mods have to deal with the bias of the board and as unpaid volunteers that eat and sleep there are limits to the policing they can do. That can give the appearance of bias.

Absolutely not. It’s been a great number of years but you used to be able to Pit mods for their decisions as a mod.

If you had said something like, “it might be that some conservative posters perceive a mod bias” you probably would have been ok. The Note was warranted.
