Yeah, I have strongly criticized politically correct absurdity like chastising someone for saying Jeopardy phenom James Holzhauer “was nice to look at”. But that anti-feminist joke was beyond the pale. ---

Admit it, many of us here, if we had been in the audience, would have laughed at that moment as well. But this isn’t a standup act, it isn’t the 1980s, and we aren’t the kind of group who enjoys Andrew Dice Clay’s choice of material. Learn to read the room, everyone! ---

FWIW, I hated Clay’s ‘80s schtick then (although he has become a good character actor in recent years). Eddie Murphy’s standup also made me wince, although I enjoyed him on SNL and some of his movies. It would seem my level of “wokeness” has been pretty consistent for over thirty years, and was ahead of the cultural curve for a good chunk of that, but is still about perfect for say 2009. ---
