The maximum number of moderators is allocated to the BBQ pit. now as I understand you can profane anything and anyone with abandon here. That is what it is for. I don’t see threads locked here or moved to other boards. I wonder what moderators do here. ---

Threads started by known trolls get locked (if not outright deleted). Multiple threads upon the same topic generally get closed to pare it down to a single thread. Threads started in accident (such as someone wishing to start a MPSIMS thread but accidentally starting it in the Pit, which seems to be the opposite of what’s happened here) get closed or moved. Sometimes a Pit rant will turn into a civil debate, at which point we’ll move it to GD. Generally, the rough discourse of the Pit precludes moving something to another forum- after all, we don’t want people getting the wrong idea of what level of discourse is allowed in GQ or GD- but it does happen. > [@](#): > > I wonder what moderators do here. As for why there are so many mods in the Pit- we’ve found that many of our trolls like to pull their crap in the Pit, and so more moderators were seen as better able to deal with the occasional influx of an Oat Willie or a CD Milk or that trio of inbreds which showed up a couple of months ago. Admittedly, other trolls have other pet forums (we’ve got plenty of mod-bashers in ATMB, and MadHatter seems to have such a hard-on for Manhattan that several porn filmmakers are looking to hire him), but the Pit seems to be a preferred venue. I paid bills yesterday, and it was SO COOL to be able to write “2001” on all of them. Kubrick’s movie was YEARS ago, and I thought 2001 would NEVER get here. I had to wait all last year for that sucky “2000” to get over with. To the person who claims to be the #1 expert on coffee, don’t be so damn sanctimonious. I merely made a mudane(having no concern for the ideal) pointless(irrelevant) point here. I have no idea what moderators do in the pit. Perhaps I was trolling, but it was certainly with a barbless hook in the appropriate pond. It doesn’t make me the internet equivalent of a child molester. By the way I certainly got both an amusing and informative reponse from the moderators, which I appreciate, as I continue to learn the intracacies and nature of this forum. ---

I hate all those moderators…moving in, lowering property values will all their moderating at all hours of the night. It’s getting so a decent person can’t live in this neighborhood anymore. Grienspace, I say we form a covenant, and make sure nobody sells their house to a moderator. \ They moderate, that’s what they do. And why are you concerned about how many moderators there are? If the Chicago Reader can’t afford all those SD coffee mugs, that’s their problem. I tell ya, people find the weirdest things to complain about sometimes… ---

When I signed up to be a member of the SDMB, I read the rules. I also read the forum descriptions before I started posting.
