I had the extreme good fortune to chance upon a floorshow for Utilikilt at a chai house here in Seattle. Oh my gawd, there was some nice honey-baked ham in there if I ever saw any. I feel as if the kilt god smiled on me that day. ---

I work in a costume shop every October - and last year the whole local hockey team (Long Beach Ice Dogs) came in to be fitted for rental kilts. It was the happiest work day of my life. Pantless pro athletes, pantless Marines, pantless men in general… I, however, am panting like a wolfhound.[sub] I can’t imagine why…[/sub] ---

Kilt-wearin’ legs should be flaunted. I recently discovered some actual Scottish blood in my family, so I too am on the giddy path to kiltdom. Yes, I have a gut; and my face might not be overly attractive, but I have kilt-wearin’ legs that just won’t stop…not that I like to brag… ---

By the Gods! I didn’t know this many women liked guys in kilts. I must wear mine more often… Of course being a MacLeod of Lewis mine is bright Yellow, but all the same its still a kilt! 🙂 ---

Well, they’re out of black, so olive-twill it is. I’m thinking the Neo-traditional, too. I’m not sure what a “modesty snap” is, but I’m figuring I can go without one. Damn, that’s depressing: I’m a 35-36 in anything I buy in a store, but according to the tape measue, I’m a 38-even. \ Oh, well. 6-8 weeks, we’ll see. ---

My inlaws went to Scottland a few years ago and purchased a butt load of the family tartan. They found a local woman (in Rio Rancho NM of all places)who had gone to Scottland and learned the art of kiltmaking. They had kilts and all the accoutrements made for the entire family (no small chunk of change). We have had two Robert Burns parties, in full costume, and had a family portrait taken of all 12 of us in full garb. It’s a great shot. Recently, a friend of mine’s company opened their new ballroom in a hotel they owned. The theme was cultural hertige or some such, and attendees were encouraged to wear clothing that reflects their culture. I summoned all of my courage and wore my kilt. It was the first time I had worn it in public, other than the parties and photo shoot. It was a very elegant ball room near Old Town in Albuquerque, and there were about 800 guests in attendance. Gentelmen, I have never gotten so much attention from the opposite sex in my life. Now, I’m a fairly handsome guy, but this was amazing. Women were asking me to dance and flirting wiht me right in front of my wife. It was lots o’ fun. As many of the women posters have indicated, spend the bucks on the kilt, you’ll be glad you did. If you have any links to Scottland or any of the British Isles, you may have a family tartan. I think it’s kinda cool to honor your heritage if you can. ---

I’m a quarter or more scottish, and i think i will be buying a kilt and wearing it regularly. That decided I would like to find a place locally that sells them, I’m in Columbia, SC, any hints. This is the kewlist idea I’ve had for spending money in a while, thanks all u crazy dopers. ---
