Earlier this year I ‘proposed’ a solution to the negative impact of social media on elections. It was not universally appreciated.( [Modest proposal: Turn off Social Media altogether?](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/modest-proposal-turn-off-social-media-altogether/915543): )

Seems like a version of that idea is beginning implemented now. WP says Facebook is acting against political ads close to the election. ([https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/09/03/facebook-political-ads/](https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/09/03/facebook-political-ads/)). Granted, it has obvious potential problems, but I like it. Twitter, wanna give it a shot?? What say you, political Dopers?
