Dagnabbit, I come home after a hard day at work and open my refridgerator door to find my cheese is gone. I think Alphagene did it, but it might have been TubaDiva. I’ll know when the DNA tests come back. Dirty, stinkin’ moderators of this board breaking into our houses, taking our food! Something needs to be done, this abuse of power is ridiculous. How long before they come for our childern? Or start tapping our bank accounts? Oo! Or maybe, they’ll erase our very identities like in that movie, The Net, with Sandra Bullock. Feh. I expect someone to poke me sharply for stirring the coals yet again, but the mod-bashing has been going on around here forever! How much time do people really need to spend on proving to the world that a few select people are trying to keep them down, and make them seem like idiots? News flash, people, nobody can make you like more of an idiot then yourself. I don’t care if they edit every other word, or rearrange the letters to make your “The Eagles are better then the Yankees” post into “God hates all of you, and you’re gonna burn in Hell!” Maybe they can edit posts, maybe they delete posts, delete threads, ban users, set cities on fire and eat babies. That’s them, that’s not you. If your self-image is so wrapped up in what a mod or admin of this board says or does to you that you can’t sleep at night, find a new hobby. And don’t tell me you’re fighting for some sort of inalienable rights here. Truth, Justice and the American Way™ don’t make this message board the Hallowed Halls of Free Intellectual Discourse. Whether “Fighting Ignorance” is something Cecil Adams wants on his tomb stone is irrelevant. One of the formost things Cecil keeps reminding us is that there are no clear-cut, black-and-white answeres out there kiddies. This isn’t just “no one is perfect,” this is “no _thing_ is perfect.” Argue over genetics, or carbon dating, or theological disputes all you like. The point is to come closer to an understanding of the truth - but you’re not going to make it. Close is all we’ll ever get. This flame is weak, pathetic, and rambling, but here it is anyway. You want to know the best thing about this place? People can talk about things important to them, and broaden their understanding of life, the universe and everything. If a mod’s motives are that important to you, you’ve got a helluva lot of broadening to do. bink (I think I spoke to much) ---

Since the other thread mildly dealing with this same topic has now been closed, and I have no way of adding a clarification post to it, I must ad my two cents here. Just so everyone is clear here, I meant no ill will or bad feelings with my **‘mods editing posts’** thread. Unfortunately, and unbeknownst to me, it quickly denigrating into a pissing and moaning thread between posters I’ve never even heard of before. There was no intent to start a flame-war with anyone in that thread. I only meant it as a light-hearted attempt to ease some tensions around here. In retrospect, the timing was way off. Hopefully, I’m not being added to the ‘pisser’s for pissing’s’ sake crowd. I doubt my posting record indicates that, and would hope the posters who participated in that thread are clear on my original intent of the thread. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t fear firing off a terse and aggressive post to an issue I feel strongly about. I have and will. This just wasn’t one of those instances. ---

InkBlot, the post Homer is quoting was merely spam from a site that has been a minor plague over the last month or so. At least a dozen posters have registered merely to spam us with that specific link. We’re unilaterally deleting the links. In this case, however, the entire post (and poster) was removed rather than the link only. The link was part of his sig and that’s a bit harder to edit than a post. It’s nothing to be concerned about. Thanks for the brew. ---
