This is inspired by the parallel thread on whether mods have a life. I am NOT talking about religious, political views of dopers and whether you agree or not. Let us talk of dopers as a crowd.(some of you may be modding in other boards also). Comparison also welcome. ---

I’m sure I speak for the moderators as a whole when I say: you all suck. All of you. No, but seriously: I like most of the people who post here. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t post here myself, far less volunteer to help run the place. Even the posters I don’t like, I kind of like. Wouldn’t be the place without them. Admittedly, there are some posters I could cheerfully stake out over a fire ant hive, but that’s just a tiny handful of people. Mostly, I think we have a great group of people here. ---

We might be gluttons for punishment, but we wouldn’t volunteer to moderate here if we didn’t like the posters. Everyone on the staff participated in the board as poster for years before becoming a moderator and the saying is that we’re posters first and moderators second. ---

You’ve not seen me in a tutu, why are you so pre-judgemental? All of those who have seen me in a tutu have never had negative responses. [sub]The set of all those people who have seen me in a tutu is, of course, empty.[/sub] We think of the posters the same way politicians think of voters, or teachers think of students, or retailers think of customers, or traffic cops think of motorists: necessary evils. We have a little app, (probably borrowed from something like Queen For A Day or The Gong Show–nothing as “sophisticated” as the thing used on American Idol and its wannabe clones), that we execute when a new poster shows up or an established poster does something noteworthy. The app tallies our votes and then logs the results in one of our supersecrit web pages so we can go back when something notable occurs and see how we’re supposed to react to any particular doper’s behavior.
