Same for me, and I finished 8th grade in Catholic school in 1964. We had the Baltimore catechism. ETA: I can’t even remember who my Confirmation sponsor was, let alone what they gave me. Not memorable. But I was an atheist by then anyway. ---

To me it doesn’t matter if it was just once. They went through the process of creating this anti-LGBQT anti-history/education group, and had a three way fling with a woman. I am not anti-LGBTQ, not anti-history. I believe in live and let live, yet I would not indulge in that sort of relationship. If you are that passionate about your cause, you are a hypocrite if you take part in the behavior you are railing against even once. I suppose, if you confess your activity and say you want to help others not make the same, “mistake” you may not be a hypocrite. You are some other brand of controlling asshole though. ---

But yes, they inhabit a political faction where public shaming has lost its meaning, they will definitely take the “who will _make_ me?” approach to going away. And the **organization** itself will **not** go away even if the persons do, since other figureheads can be raised from the astroturf. ---

There’s two opposing scenarios: Margaret Atwood’s _Handmaid’s Tale_ extreme conservatism = sexual puritanism = nobody enjoys sex Pier Paolo Pasolini’s _Salo -120 Days of Sodom_ extreme conservatism = alpha male dominance = jaded, sadistic sex for the elites. I’m somewhat favoring the latter. The former has the powerful elites completely sublimating their sex drives into oppressing others, which can indeed happen. The latter still has oppression as an outlet for sadism, but after a hard night in the torture chamber, a guy needs to cut loose. Examples abound. Nikolai Yezhov threw orgies, Beria kidnapped and raped, etc. It’s not enough that they have the power to deny other people freedom ; they also have to gorge themselves of the most animalistic expressions of freedom.
