# Monkey vs Chicken

Or, strange things you think of when you’re nodding off.

Lazy Sunday, so I’m nodding off while reading the Dope. My mind tends to wander at the best of times and it goes odd places when I’m nearly asleep; I often begin thinking of things in terms of computers and begin to wonder how I can talk to anyone when we’re obviously running different hardware and operating systems.

Not this time. This time, I began thinking of that stupid Rock-Em-Sock-Em Robots movie starring Hugh Jackman. Except my brain knew what the _real_ conflict is. The conflict encoded in our genes, back to the age of dinosaurs, when the first mammals had to fight for survival against impossible odds, and later, after the meteor, when the birds took up their ancestors’ cause against the now-dominant furry ones.

Yes. The battle of champions. The battle of ages. The battle for the fate of life on this planet: Monkey Vs Chicken!

I can picture it as a Mortal Kombat style game. The monkeys could pit their poo-flinging abilities against the chicken’s special of spawning chicks by laying eggs.
