# Monty is a ...

Damn liar. He called me “a proven liar” some time ago. I asked him to back that up or verify with cite. Nothing.  
Thus. the only assumption is that he was …(drum roll)…a liar.

Oh, did I mention he’s a hypocrite, also?

Or he was busy with work (happens to the best of us), he couldn’t get online for some other reason (again, happens to the best of us), or he’s put you in Coventry.

Monty occasionally decides that he simply will not respond to a certain poster. It doesn’t matter WHAT you say to him, he won’t respond.

I happen to know that two of the three reasons that I gave in my first paragraph are true.

And from what I understand, he’s in the middle of nowhere. I mean, waaaaaay far away from anything else, on a tiny isolated island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. He doesn’t seem to have posted much at all in the past month, so I’m thinking that busy and unable to get online sound pretty likely.

well, Lynn\< I appreciate the info, but still it is rude to call someone (in GD no less, not here) “a proven liar”, I will admit to being an opinionated asshole at times (opinionated always, only sometimes an asshole), but that is a bit different than being a “liar”. He also accussed me of being some sort of Christian “fundie”, which I feel indicates that he has gotten me mixed up with someone else.

I have only rattled his cage twice, once was on grammar, and later on polygamy. The second time was after he started going off on me. I realize he takes attacks on his religion (Mormonism) seriously, but I did not attack his religion (In fact I stated that those weirdos were NOT Mormons). It IS kinda odd, that for someone who mocks other religions so much, he would be so thinned skinned on HIS, but everyone has got an Achilles heel, I guess.

I also wonder why no Staff called him on the “proven liar” remark, as it was in GD, and completely unrelated to the thread. But,I guess everyone was too busy squashing yet another reincarnation of several banned posters.

So, either he has gotten me mixed up with someone, in which case he at least owes me a nod, or he can’t back up his “liar” attack. Either one makes him rude.

Lynn, pardon me for saying this, and I don’t want to sound paranoid, and maybe I’m reading you wrong (it is so hard to read someone using only typed text), but it SORTA sounds like you’re defending him.

And, Water, it does not make any difference how out of touch he is. That does not excuse the original remarks.

No, Daniel. Lynn was pointing out the fallacy in your OP, to wit: that the “_only_ assumption is he’s a liar.”

It’s certainly the only assumption you made, but it’s not the only possible one.

Monty specializes in demoninzing anyone who dares to disagree with him. It’s pretty effective–I’ve lost my temper because of his rude and continuous baiting and so I’m the one ending up sounding like a creep. He will call you a liar over and over and over again until you just get sick of it AND him. I’ve had several run ins with him where he called me a liar–once when I had the audacity to complain that some people of his religion had hurt my family and once where he went wild because I didn’t use a word in the way that his dictionary defined it. Now he constantly accuses me of some sort of subterferge because I posted under another name at one time–heck, I moved and forgot the darn password, big deal.  
He’ll use every bad arguing technique known to man–redefining words, ad hominim attacks, subject changing, etc. He really goes beserk when you cite a early mormon text that shows the Mormons in a bad light–that’ll set him off in a second. It was too bad the polygamy argument got off on the mormon connection–it made it impossible to really discuss the issue on any rational level.  
In my charitable moments, I feel sorry for him. Anyone as controlling, nasty, and bombastic as he must have very, very few friends. And those he has probably monitor every word they say to him so they don’t set him off. I can’t imagine he has very honest and open family relationships either–with a brother, father, husband like that how could you possibly ever relax and be yourself?

“Once” does not constitute “constantly.” I’d post the dictionary definition but seeing your remark above, maybe that’s not such a hot idea. Anyway, you moved and forgot the password, you say? Did you also move off the screen where it gives you the option of getting the password sent to you? Did you let folks know that you were changing the username?

Interesting assertion, as I’m also well aware of early LDS texts and the church’s history. What I don’t do is maintain that the court records are early Mormon texts. You also stated that you wouldn’t even read those documents when I quoted them.

Nope, we talk constantly about many subjects, including Religion, Math, Politics, Foresty, Geography, and Strategy. Many of my friends are Muslims, many are Buddhists, and many are Catholics. I don’t see that we’d really agree all that much on Religion, yet we discuss it without rancor. Try it sometime.

What was that above about the ad hominim attack?

FTR: The threads I’m talking about are the Mitochondrial DNA thread in GD and the Responses to Bashing in the BBQ Pit.

Also FTR: I’m currently located on a small (approximately 17 square miles) island in the Indian Ocean due South of India, place called Diego Garcia. I also have to take a few long flights when my company needs me to do my job somewhere off this island. Since this island is quite remote, those flights take a while to actually get anywhere.

The Leviathan surfaces, it’s mighty bulk shedding ships like water drops! The horrible monster opens it’s cavernous toothy maw for a terrible ROAR!!! People cring in fear at what may happen, they cover the ears of their children!!!
