Monuments to women

Since this got resurrected: Chicago honored Jane Addams with carved granite pedestals featuring outstretched hands.

That looks like Abraham Lincoln on the right.

Gah, that’s hideous. Are they nude below the waist or did they collectively step into a large manhole while the sidewalk was being paved?

As a kid, this woman’s story and statue impressed me - Mary Jemison. (Scroll down for statue)

The one who looks like she’s wearing curlers is Elizabeth Cady Stanton, I believe.

Oh, I don’t know if you wish to include Statuary Hall in the Capitol building? If you do, then there are women.

1st thing I thought of.

I don’t see why they would not be included?? Been there many times!

I just counted them, there are 8.

Just checked on another Ohioan besides Annie Oakley post 28, (she’s in in the book of world records), there is a statute;

Well, in PA there is the Molly Pitcher statue.
The story goes that she & her ramrod inspired men to fight on at the front lines rather than retreat.

Close to where I live in Portland is this statue of Joan of Arc. I’m not overly fond of the color.

There’s a statue of Harriet Tubman in Harlem.

The Sacajawea article in Wikipedia lists eighteen different statues to her.

Is stuyguy still posting? Maybe he’ll be happy to know it was Catherine of Braganza. She was a queen of England, though Braganza is in Portugal. Also owned Bombay for a time.

Boudicca (aka Boadicea) in her chariot. Westminster bridge, London.

Amelia Earhart, resident of North Hollywood, Ca.

Statue outside the Amelia Earhart public library, North Hollywood, Ca. (Scroll down a little bit for a larger picture.)

Google Image search for Amelia Earhart statue turns up similar statues in other places as well, many of them similar to this one (with her standing next to a propeller).

What? No zombie jokes yet?

No pictures of statues of female zombies?
