Moobees!

Lots of favorites, of course. I do love PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE; it is our traditional Halloween flick.

I love Japanese monster movies, of course, as well as WB cartoons (especially by Jones). I got a nice collection of the early ones – six volumes of material – along with the later "Salute to Chuck Jones.

I also have about a dozen Rocky and Bullwinkle tapes.

Read “Sundials” in the new issue of Aboriginal Science Fiction. www.sff.net/people/rothman

We went to Toy Story 2,now we’re lookin to rent Ernest Saves Xmas.(loved the Xmas edition of Futurama).

Aw, nutz, I thought this was a thread about the genetic mutations of cows and bees.

I have a hankerin’ for:

• Pre-code films. The racy comedies, gangster films and musicals made from 1929-34 (when the Hays Code was enforced, taking the fun out of everything).

• Silent movies. This weekend, I watched “The Girl Who Stayed at Home,” a 1919 flick with Bobbie Harron and Clarine Seymour–a great romantic, comic team. They both died within a year of the film’s release, making it very bittersweet. I also can rewatch Kevin Brownlow’s “Hollywood” documentary series till the cows come home (buzzing as they come).

• And of course, bad, bad movies–anyone else ever see “The Wild, Wild World of Jayne Mansfield?” NOT to be missed!

I really like the supernatural-samurai type films from Hong Kong (I don’t know what to call the genre) like “Chinese Ghost Story” (not the anime version) and “Comet, Butterfly and Sword”(?). They aren’t cartoons, but they should be. Really over-the-top effects.

Wow, lotsa bad movie fans! Here are a few of my favorite bad/strange movie review sites, in order of greatness (IMHO):

Bad movies, gotta love 'em.

Au Contraire. Not only is it available but I have a brand new MGM/UA (“In Glorious Black & White”) copy still in the shrink rap from Amazon to replace the copy I taped off AMC.

The one I realy want is “Skidoo” but it appears to be lost forever.
