Moon Question

The question as presented is not: “Have people in the past used ‘dark side’ to refer to the far side of the moon?” The answer to that is, “Yes, they have.”

The question presented is “What did abashed mean with the term ‘dark side’, and what is the proper way of referencing it?” The answer to that is, “He probably meant the side that we cannot see from Earth. That side is not perpetually dark, therefore the more correct way of referencing it is to call it the ‘far side’.”

Not sure why the fact that some here have said that means we have to have a ten or twenty post argument over the meaning of the words “dark side.” :dubious:

It’s Vader’s fault.

I was asking the question in a naive way on purpose to provoke a debate for the benefit of anyone who hasn’t really thought about it much. The idea is to educate the uninitiated.

Then why can we see it at night?

The only dark side of the moon is the interior of it’s surface.
