Were’nt the early days of moonshine makin’ the beginning of what is now NASCAR? I seem to remember a movie about that. The good ole boys were always on the run from revenoors in souped up jalopies…or, maybe not.

Actually, ITFIRE’s right; the 'shiners would haul their 'shine in souped-up cars made to out-run the “revenuers”, and translated their driving skills to racing on the oval track.
I believe a movie called “The Last American Hero” explains things some.
