I’ve never bought any, but I believe they make low residue dog foods. Low residue=small poops.

Not small, just smallER. Big dog makes big poop, ain’t no way around it.
All a matter of degree.

Something that clings to itself better and also more impervious to water like cypress mulch could work well too.
My Beagle would eat bark mulch. Of course she’ll eat anything.
My kid took the dogs out and got stuck on the mud flat. Poor little dogs have dried mud on their legs and chests, hard like concrete. I’ve been hoping that it will largely just wear off in their daily romping. Seems to have worked for their feet. Its not too bad.
But the crew might be in for a bath date. Not looking forward to this…
I think your best long term and easiest strategy is to fix the backyard. I struggled with this for about 10 years and then I finally added some dirt to the back yard and replanted the grass. No problem since. If the dogs were left out too much they would kill the grass and still have some mud but I usually kept them off the grass except for a few breaks each day .
I bet that is a job. Make the kid do it.
I’m back to report that this gadget worked really well. The test dog thought I was insane, but it was very straightforward to use. All muck and gravel between toes was removed. Follow it up with a towel to remove the water, and Bob’s your uncle.
The kiddie pool idea might actually work if you live somewhere that is not too freezing.
I have a yard that is a mud pit, a dog that likes to slide like he’s heading for home when chasing a ball, and a small waterfall pond. He loves to play in the pond. The pro is that when he gets muddy, I can tell him to go in the pond and rinse off. The con is he is always wet, all the time.
Anyone else ever wonder if they could teach their dog to count to 4 during this oft-repeated exercise? Always sorta surprises me that, after I’ve wiped 2 or 3 paws, the dummy will act as tho he is free to go, as tho I won’t care to wipe all 4!
Very good. I’m glad I was able to suggest something that worked. Did you get two sizes, or was one enough to test the idea?
Be sure to leave a review on Amazon.
One of our dogs has a spinal deformity and isn’t too skilled at lifting a leg to pee. He whizzes proudly straight ahead; unfortunately he doesn’t aim very well either, so is generally running around with one wet front foot. :o
I’m ordering the second size for the little guys, but one was enough to test the idea.
Good thought on the review. I’ll try to get that done too.
We have the same issue in keeping wet doggy feet off the carpeted areas of the house. We generally just wipe our Boxer’s paws down with a paper towel in the tiled entryway. It seems like the paw washer would just add a second step, I’d rather eliminate the need altogether. So I’m sitting here thinking “Hmmm, ‘galoshes’ are rain boots for people. It is also is a slang term for a condom. I could roll a condom onto each paw before letting him out, then roll them off after. It would have to be the unlubed kind though. Don’t want him to displace a hip. And they would be one-and-done, everyone knows to never reuse a condom.”
This is why I don’t sit and think often.
