I agree that Islamic culture is shot through with violence and brutal extremism. No false equivalence–Islam is worse. What I’m not seeing is even the slightest prospect for Islamic culture to impose itself in any way on US society. How can it? Muslims will only ever be a tiny minority, and then of course there’s the Constitution. As I like to say, “Mexicans aren’t Muslims”. US society is gradually becoming more Hispanic, not Islamic. The terrorist threat is a big deal, and predictably enough a small percentage of American Muslims are terrorists (where are the poll numbers?). But you can’t take over legislatures and school boards by planting the occasional bomb. **Magellan01** , your citing of 9/11 as proof that Islam is taking over the US is completely out to lunch. That was one single incident on one day nearly 10 years ago perpetrated by a tiny handful of people who promptly disappeared. It didn’t usher in a powerful Islamic political party, it prompted a backlash against Islam. And 9/11 wasn’t an attempt to force Americans to behave according to Islam, it was revenge the US stationing troops in Saudi Arabia, supporting Israel. The latter is also seen as a Western invasion of the Islamic world, and if there’s one Muslims can’t stand it’s Western powers invading and interfering in their part of the world and–get this–_undermining their culture_. Fuck 'em, I say. They’re violent, hysterical, chauvanistic assholes. A lot of 'em anyway. But spare us the slippery-slope paranoia. ---

It’s also ridiculous for people like **Magellan** to trace all the things that have happened since 9/11 back to Islam. All the overreaction is the fault of the idiots in Congress. If I set up Claymores in my front yard because a guy 20 blocks over had his grill stolen, it is pretty cheeky of me to blame the thief when the mailman gets hit with thousands of steel balls travelling at high velocity. ---

Leaving aside the fact that Obama was born in Hawaii, not Kenya, even if he’d been born in Kenya, he’d be “a natural born US citizen”. According to US law, if one of your parents is a US citizen then so are you. For example, I was born in Tehran. My mother was an American citizen, but my father wasn’t. My mother even checked with the US Embassy to make sure that her giving birth in Iran wouldn’t cause any citizenship issues and they assured her that it wouldn’t, and of course it hasn’t as I’ve always been a US citizen and never had to be formally naturalized. Similarly, George Romney had no problems running for President even though he was born in Mexico. Moreover, a close friend of mine was born in Mexico when her then 18-year-old mother rather unwisely attended a wedding celebration in Mexico and went into premature labor. She was automatically a US citizen even though she was born in Mexico and her father was a Mexican national. I’m afraid even if you somehow could prove that Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii, which really would be akin to proving that the moon landing was a hoax and that the CIA killed Kennedy, then he’d still be an American citizen. ---

Only a natural born citizen can become President of the United States. 2. Barack Obama became President of the United States, being sworn in by Chief Justice Roberts. 3. Now, you can choose to prattle on a board about how you have the proof, how no one can defeat you, how your +7 sword of flaming righteousness can slay any ork, but in the end, it is meaningless drivel. Wrong. So wrong. First, his father was a Kenyan citizen under the British Mandate and thus a British citizen. In order to be natural born, either both his parents had to be legal citizens (which his father was not) or, barring that, the other parent (in this case his mother) had to have resided in the USA for at least 10 years, at lest 5 of which had to have been after the age of 16. Thus, she needed to be at least 21 years of age when she gave birth to Obama, and in reality she was only 18. Thus, according to law, she could not confer citizenship. Therefore he cannot be natural born. There are also issues where he inherited Indonesian citizenship from his adopted father and would thus be ineligible. There are lots of questions, and he refuses to clear them up. So why is he hiding all his records…his original true long form birth certificate, his passport records, his school transcripts and financial aid papers, etc? So who’s lying? If the paper version was destroyed in 2001, then how did these people see the paper certificate in 2009?
