Apparently, they gave the contract for food for somebody who had already been fired by the government 4 times for not delivering and she apparently screwed up badly, delivering 50,000 meals instead of 30 million, and packaging them wrong. In the same time, Jose Andres and his charity stepped up and fed 2.2 million people [link](https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/30/dining/jose-andres-puerto-rico.html). I guess it’s time to go back out to one of his restaurants and give him some more money (not exactly a hardship for me). ---

According to [The Hill](http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/372515-contractor-awarded-156-million-to-provide-30-million-meals-to-puerto), Tiffany Brown is fighting the termination of her company’s contract and is seeking a settlement of $70 million. If she wins, I’m starting a contracting business of some sort immediately. ---

It’s a cottage industry and people make a lot of money from government contracts. The fed is notoriously bad about putting protective language in their contracts, leaving gaping holes that any smart contractor will spot in an instant. They are also notoriously lax about oversight, other than the Corps of Engineers. It’s why bidding for these contracts is so fierce. ---
