# More than four political divisions meeting at one point.

Inspired by [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=625610) thread I began to wonder if there are any points, anywhere in the world, where more than 4 states or whatevers meet.

Well, is there? What’s the record in this regard?

There’s the South Pole, where a number of claims to parts of Antarctica meet. I don’t know the number, but it would be more than four.

The only geographic location in the US where five states meet is [five corners](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_locations_in_The_Simpsons#Five_Corners). I can stand in one state, fire a gun in a second state, the bullet will travel through the third, hitting a guy in the fourth, so he falls dead in the fifth. No single act is against any law, but their sum total is the greatest murder.

I’m thinking this wouldn’t be a case I’d care to defend in court. But certainly it’s the sort of answer The Dope is famous for.

In any case I was sort of going for something a little more along the lines of **Giles’** answer.

Five Congressional Districts near Houston, Texas (the 7th, 9th, 10th, 14th, 22nd) come within a few miles of forming a pentipoint. Curiously, the pentipoint lies on the boundary of George Bush Park.
