# Morning Joe vs Mika

I noticed a Google headline: Tension on the set of Morning Joe. Apparently Mika Polish-surname complained that her husband and “co-anchor” Joe interrupted her. ( If you’ve never heard of Mika and Joe, lucky you!)
_Mika complained that Joe interrupted her???_ MY GOD, he’s been interrupting Mika for most of a decade. I cringe when I watch and literally have to switch channels after one minute out of sympathy for poor Mika. I’ve thought of contacting her with a Battered Wives Hotline number.

My mind flits from one topic to another. Often after 5 minutes of conversation, I or “listener” will ask “What were we talking about?” The mention of Joe and Mika led my mind to flit from topic to topic, all associated with TV news. I may follow-up with excerpts from the long rant I first envisioned!

They’re both so fucking insufferable that it is difficult to tell [a parody](https://youtu.be/nXr5eOxgJ6Q?si=r5HPtlKHZzChlOuX) from the real thing. Those are two people who definitely deserve each other because nobody else would want to put up with their bullshit.

It seems to be a thing over here too - at least three or four morning TV pairings (not necessarily married) have ended up in the tabloid gossip pages for their evident reciprocal disdain and disagreements. They’re insufferable in person as well. 90% of their airtime originates from a fairly elaborate studio build in their Florida home in the early weeks of COVID-19.
Imagine being trapped at home with that level of toxic masculinity, condescension and snark? With no colleagues around, no office to get to for a respite?

Was this posted in FQ? I intended it for the Pit, but the interface here seems to have its own ideas. (I think I had a never-sent buffer for a FQ question which took charge.)
And yeah, I know Mika’s father’s name. I just figured everyone who cared already knew.

I watch the show for maybe 15-20 minutes before starting work. I like them both fine and I enjoy the show. Joe interrupts, but he’s no Chris Matthews. Maybe Mika gets perturbed once in a while, but usually it’s when the guys go off on baseball tangents.

I always wondered if they were related, but was always too lazy to go look it up. With a last name like that, I figured they must be. How many of them can there be? (Kinda like my own last name - if I ever come across anyone with the same last name, I assume they _must_ be related somehow.)

Other way 'round for me. I looked up one of them on Wikipedia (can’t remember which, or why) and saw the other listed as a family member. I’d heard both of their names, of course, but in such different contexts that I never noticed they shared a surname.
My own last name is pretty rare in the U.S., but I have encountered it with people who are not known relatives

I read somewhere that they have been fighting over the election. She clearly did not want Biden to step down and he did. I think he was also pushing for Shapiro as VP.
