i wanna play too! But the rules in the top post are as clear as mud…can someone post a basic set of rules? Can I start with Russell Square? (my “home” Tube stop whenever I am in London) Bill ---

You **cannot** start with Russel Square. Read the rules. And **Garius** you should know better than that, **samarm** has already made the opening move (a dubious double, but he is playing with Fran Walsh). And you certainly can’t declare tube drivers strike on a Thursday. Well, you can call it, but it won’t come into effect until Monday. I think we’ll just put it down to Christmas spirit. Anyhoo, I think **Buckhust Hill** should be the next move. The East End is so much more colourful. For a [simplified set of rules](http://thetube.com/guru/index.asp) (note - the rules on the DLR contain serious errors and they completely omit the Thames Flood Barrier) try here ---

Assuming Lafayette’s Perogative is still in effect, I’m going to apply Rushton’s Flip and make Cannon Street the next move. (Since this looks like it may be something of a beginner’s game, will we be removing the spikes from the elevator in Picadilly Circus? That’s often a bit advanced for newbies.) ---

**Tapioca** - Typical bloody yank - yeah the _American Standard Model_ stipulates **Tube Strikes** on Mondays only - but you of all people should know that we always play the _International Standard Model_ here on the board (this time with the **Fran Walsh** adaption. So Tube Strikes can be called at any time as long as **Nid** has been declared. I think you are just annoyed at the fact that i beat you on points last time we played here 😛 Anyway, i siddle over to **Holborn** ---

**Garius** good call, but please note that _Signal Failure_ is technically invalid unless Bassingtons have been declared void during motion West to a non-vowel station. I know, I know, most players will accept it outside of tournament play, and the Bassingtons rule is not yet canonical outside of the Twillocks Convention (see New Abridged Rules, Revised Oxford edition, Joryon & Bailey, 1981), but I felt it was worth mentioning to help some of the newbies. Seems like **Tapioca** has overlooked the fact that _double nibs_ are permitted for consecutive motion non-East (1972 International Adjudication, Finn .v. Kosygin, upheld on appeal 1974 Oslo Conference) therefore I declare double nibs and **Hounslow East**!! ---
