OMG new Morrissey today! šŸ˜ƒ I was only mildly entertained by his last album (ā€œLet Me Kiss Youā€ was the only stand out for me; the rest was just OK). This new single is sounding pretty good though. I think Iā€™m already liking it better than anything on _Quarry_. Pretty classic Morrissey sound - 99% him and 1% music, maudlin lyrics, etc. Check it out (full preview) at the old manā€™s [MySpace site](http://www.myspace.com/morrissey). Yes, Morrissey has a myspace page. šŸ˜ƒ You can download it at iTunes - and probably the other services too. Anyone know what the non-English words are in the song? Sounds like either character names from something? Or Italian? ---

I love Morrissey, and got to see him live (for the first time) on his Fall 2004 ā€œYou Are the Quarryā€ tour. I will definitely keep an eye out for this album, but Iā€™ll probably wait until BMG Music Service gets it in stock. ---

Iā€™m a Smiths fan checking in. I had no idea that Morrissey was still making records. I thought heā€™d retired to peanut butter and banana sandwiches, like one of his idols. I hope the best for him, although Iā€™ve always secretly wished his solo career would bust so that The Smiths could possibly re-band. ---

One of the oddest songs Iā€™ve heard recently was a remix of Morrisseyā€™s _Suedehead_ by Sparks (as in _This Town Ainā€™t Big Enough For The Both Of Us_). It turns it into a bizarre orchestral epic. ---

Great song! It does remind me of his last album (which I really liked) but it also reminds me a little of the Smiths. I think itā€™s the catchiness of the melody. ---

Actually, I think Andy Rourke poses more of a problem for a Smiths reunion than Marr - IIRC, there was all kinds of litigation involving The Smiths that was instigated by Rourke, and Morrissey bitched about it in every (somewhat) recent interview Iā€™ve read. Thanks for the tip on the new album - I thought _You Are The Quarry_ was a nice return to form, and Iā€™m anxious to hear this new one. ---

[Whoo! Excellent news! Thereā€™s an article in the last issue of _Uncut_ about the Smiths ā€“ actually itā€™s a huge interview with Marr, Rourke, and Joyce ā€“ and they mention the unlikelihood of a reunion. Iā€™ll see if I can post relevant paragraphs laterā€¦ I recently bought **The Best of Morrissey** (because I donā€™t have **Vauxhall and I** on CD and was desperate to hear ā€œNow My Heart Is Fullā€), and my God! The horribly, shamefully, nauseatingly sycophantic liner notes! I swear, Iā€™ve never read anything so cloying and fawning in my life, and I like Morrissey as much as the next guy (well, probably more, considering who the next guy usually is). The writer actually says ā€œOne day there will most probably be a Faculty of Morrissey Studies in more than one distinguished seat of learningā€¦ā€ and then goes on to predict that Morrissey, of course, would never deign to comment on the work that goes on there because that would be beneath him. Seriously, Faculty of Morrissey Studies?! I rolled my eyes so hard at that one, I nearly lost my contacts in my skull. That said, I love the guy. Not as much as Trouble loves him, Iā€™m guessing, but close. **Ringleader of the Tormentors** comes out in April, FYI. ---

Tom huh? Someone should tell him that ground control is looking for him. **Gallowā€™s Fodder** , those liner notes do look pretty bad. I do think Morrissey should publish a book of his lyrics, like Lou Reed did. Iā€™d totally buy it. ---
