# Mortgage/Debt after breakup

Well, yes, this is pretty much what we were saying. You have a legal right to **half**. You originally were seeking to get back your entire down payment. We said “no” it’s considered 50/50.

Then I mispoke. I know I did my quick math wrong in that exampe, and admitted that in a later post.

I always knew I couldn’t get the entire thing back - poor communication on my part - sorry all.

It was pretty obvious to me that you both were talking about whether or not he deserved to get her share of the down payment money. I thought Fat Chance was clear on that.
