Morton's of Chicago ~ a review of sorts

Ruby, be sure to stop in Tom Saris’ Orleans House if you’re ever in the DC area. Steakhouses need not be expensive to be great.

I recently tried Tom Sarris’ Orleans House when I was in DC, at my father’s request. That was a really good meal (and a really great daquiri. I love the Metro. I can have a drink and not have to worry about driving home.) Sarris’ served up a great prime rib, and my cousin loved her chicken kabob. It was a nice atmosphere, as well.

As for Morton’s… I went to the one in Cincinnati last year, and although the price about bowled over my group of early twentysomethings, we felt all swanky having our crumbs swept up for us. Mind you, we had planned on going to Morton’s, but didn’t realize how dressy/pricy it was, so it was a group of 10 people dressed in shorts and the like. We were all delighted at the food and the experience, though, and have decided if we ever hit the lottery, we’ll eat there again.

But what a great steak. Mm.

It’s not even the best in Chicago! Gene and Georgetti’s is better.

Roland Burris, who is running for Governor again, I believe was in Gene and Georgetti’s the other day, and ordered spaghetti. All I could think of was that I’ve always heard that the spaghetti was excellent at Gene and Georgetti’s, but I’ve never known anyone who actually ordered it. It’s pretty much steak or nothing.

What the heck kind of name is “Ruth’s Chris”? Shouldn’t the possessive come second? Same deal with “Carl’s Jr.”

IIRC, Chris is Ruth’s son. I have no idea why she felt the need to have his name in there. I was going to check their website but I can’t get in.

Ruth bought the already established Chris Steakhouse… so it became Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.
