Anybody ever had this drink? I had one for the first time. Damn, it was good. A cup of vodka with ginger beer for flavor.

An awesome summer cocktail. I like mine with lots of ice and a slice of lime.

>
> Comments: This is tradionally served in a copper mug, if you do not have copper mugs there is no ill affects to glass. The original recipe calls for 1 oz. of lime juice but I found it to be too much for my taste. Ginger beer is non-alcoholic and can be found in local grocery stores.

I am partial to the version of the Moscow Mule found in my handy little Collins Gem book.

3 parts vodka
1 part lime juice (however, I agree with **astro** that too much lime can be a tad sour and halve the amount. YMMV.)
3 dashes Angostura Bitters (makes all the difference IMO)
Ginger beer (equal measure to vodka or more - dependent on the refreshment:intoxication ratio you are after)
Slice of lime to garnish
Plenty of ice

Substituting the vodka makes an interesting alternative, and if you really can’t find ginger beer you can get away with ginger ale at a pinch. I can feel John Martin spinning in his grave…

Substituting the vodka for **gin** that should have said. Can you tell I tend more towards intoxicating than refreshing?
