Mosin Nagant rifle

Yes, 7.62 x 39 for AK-47 and SKS is harder to find corrosive than not, and is (relatively) cheap. However, this is 7.62 x 54R, and non-corrosive ammo is about 80 cents per round.

Time to hang that thing over the fireplace and be done with it.

Yo! SLK is in the Moisin club. I have the M44, with a reciever stamped 1945. Nice rifle. I had to sell it for eating money in May. I went back for it as soon as I could. They still had it.
It impressed the Gun Store proprieter. "Out of all the guys who say ‘I’ll be back for it.’, You’re the first who came back for it. He knocked $25 off the price, and gave me back my stripper clips for free.

So, yep, I got my Moisin back.

You sure you aren’t getting confused with a 7.92x57mm Mauser or a .30-06 calibre Mauser?

The 6.5x55mm Swedish Mausers have almost no recoil IMHO and are incredibly accurate; I’ve got an M38 Husqvarna that I take hunting a lot and it’s one of my favourite rifles. In fact, when I want to take a “non-shooting” friend shooting, I let them use the Swede at the range because of the mild recoil.

I’ve long been of the opinion that the 6.5x55mm Swedish cartridge is the best all-round cartridge for hunting in Australia and the M96 and M38 Swedish Mausers are some of the best and most accurate bolt-action rifles ever made.

A good mate of mine has a M91/30 Mosin-Nagant and it kicks like a mule, makes a hell of a racket, and basically doesn’t do anything that our .303s can’t- and the .303 holds twice as much ammo.

He pulls it out for Military Service matches so he can shoot something different, but in this part of the world 7.62x54R is an exotic calibre so ammo isn’t all that cheap, ironically…

They’re pretty, too.
