I personally like Sarah Palin saying, to paraphrase, “Gosh, that report said I didn’t do anything unethical!” when it specifically said the exact opposite. ---

If your definition of lie and hyperbole is as synonyms as number 2 would suggest then I’m guessing a certain bit about lowering the sea levels comes to mind. ---
